Need some advice

Just bought a 2006 4Runner ( limited). Having Daystar leveling kit installed ( 2 1/2" front and 1 1/2" rear). Looking to buy new tires and possibly rims. I have read thru the forums on lifts and leveling kits but what I would like to know is:
1) any suggestions on tire ( brand and size for majority of time on road and some off road play that will not rub)
2) Need of tire spacers? thinking of adding Spidertrax 1 1/4" spacers?
3) If I do buy new tires I want to keep the tires and rims I have as my winter back ups and I have done some checking on aftermarket rims and they all seem to be wider than the factory original -anybody able to avoid tire rub with aftermarket rims without modifications to the flares and wheel wells? if so- what size rim and tire are you using?

If you get over the mistaken notion that wider is better, you can do a lot.

You might consider Goodyear silent Armor for a year-round tire that does well in multiple environments and balances very well for a nice highway experience.

Are you going to upgrade your suspension at all?

Zopperman's direction to the suspension sticky is sound; there is a ton of information there. It may not make a lot of sense but if you do a bit of reading, you will begin to absorb the vocabulary so that you can have a conversation and understand the advice given.

yeah it's a great thread - i didn't know what a coil over was till i came here. Now i can say fun things like ball joint and know what 265/65 means on my tired

Just looked at the link. looks nice! I was going for the flat blacks rims but have had problems finding aftermrket to fit without a lot of other modifications. Was thinking of getting the original powder coated or finding an extra set on line to powder coat and still be able to keep my originals tires ( lots of tread left and rims).

Look at some of the FJ wheels as well. I've found a lot here in Dallas on Craigslist. The FJ crowd seems to put aftermarket wheels on more than the T4R crowd and some of those OE wheels look really good on a 4runner. I agree with the above post regarding wider tires. I think if you get away from that notion you'll be much happier. Your wheel bearings will too.
