Need some audio help/opinions please

I just installed two 10" Kicker Pro Comp L7s with a Pioneer 900 watt amp. Using a line out converter splicing into the left and right speaker wires in the cd players wire harness in the dash. I did this to save money and not buy an aftermarket cd player. In my experience this setup should be ratteling my fillings but it just isn't. The bass does hit ok but not at all what I was expecting. Is this because of the factory cd player? I read somewhere they are 360 watts themselves.

I have the JBL 6 disc in dash player. 2003 Limited.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I just need to get an aftermarket player? Are aftermarket players better then 360 watts? The ones I saw say like 50 to 80 watts.

Another thing I noticed with this setup is that I have to turn the volume way up to even hear anything.....like to 30 when before that was not the case.

Does anyone know what the wire colors are and what they are? I need the Left and Right positive and negative coming from the factory amp to the speakers.

since you have jbl, i thought u have a sub back there, there should be a speaker lead you can use. wheres that sub swap thread, check the 4th gen section, i think it explains a lil. i find that a new deck and use rca directly from the deck is alot better.

I moved the line out converter to the speaker lines coming from the factory amp. Made a world of difference! Kickers are really pounding now! Thank you for the help!!

glad it worked out, hows the setting? 80hz on the lpf? no boost right?

L and R gain on the line out converter a little past half way. Gain on the amp is the same a little past half. Frequency is between 125 and 250.....little close to 250. LPF is on. Bass boat is at the highest at 12. CD player is at 4 bass, goes to 5. And some songs on the I pod I set the EQ on it to bass booster setting.

Most songs sound perfect, few get a little distorted. That could be the quality of the song though.

too many eq settings, on ipod itself should be flat or off, amp cross should be at 80 and no boost, everything else should be adjust at the deck, then if you want more bass, boost at +3 first then +6. must do all the gain set perfectly at flat first. maybe you are getting distortion to the other speakers.

I'll try that, but I'm not getting distortion other then a few songs. Other then that where i have everything set now is really sounding the way i want it to. I will try what you said though, always appreciate any advice and I'll see how your way sounds, might be better who knows.

to get proper sound, you have to set the gains correctly first, if you dont have that set right with everything on flat, the sound will be all off. once you master the gain set correctly, you can start playing with the eq on the deck, but on the amp, just leave it on lpf 80, its a good start.also boost at 0. then eq the deck and boost a lil on the amp. always take pictures of your settings first, and then try something else, i might not have the best solutions that will work for everyone.everyone else might have a better setup than me [MENTION=46025]HokieRunner[/MENTION] , [MENTION=93434]gshadow325[/MENTION].
