Thats true but i think thats only to tighen them, i dont think you can release the plate that stops it from loosining from the back, ill give it a try though.
I dont know about the newer disc brake set up but the older drum brakes had a slot on the back side of the wheel that you could use a brake spoon (or a flat screwdriver) and rotate the star wheel to adjust them. You cant do the adjustment with the drum off. Look for a small rubber plug about a inch or so long on the back side of the wheel. I bet it is still in the design.
