Need To Disable Door Ajar System

Hi everybody! I have a 2011 4Runner Trail Premium Edition.

A problem just occurred that I need immediate help with please. My door ajar light is on and all of my doors are securely shut. I need to know how to disable the entire system (not just the light or the chime). It is messing with my alarm system, consistently chiming while driving, and not allowing me to lock the vehicle.

I would rather not fix it because I use this vehicle off road and as my daily driver (it's not in perfect condition). Please help me find a way to trick the vehicle into thinking all of the doors are shut properly.

What an odd request… why is it even acting up? Electrical modifications, bad alarm install?

Personally I would be after the root cause and remedy that vs just trying to band aid the thing…

Perhaps its something as simple as a bad door sensor, like the switch that complete the circuit, or the wire related to it is damaged not allowing the circuit to complete when a door is closed.

My primary suspect would be the tailgate and tailgate lock for sure. Also check the door closure plungers that trigger the sensors, perhaps one is gummed up or sticking

Tailgate is secure as well. I'm assuming the problem lies with water damage since going through deep water here and there (have a snorkel). Trying to find the actual problem could be a million things, that's why I'm just trying to bandaid it. Can anyone help?

You know what, how about just disabling the chime for now? It's driving me completely nuts and I drive a lot. I'm literally going to kill someone if this keeps going off.

The door triggers are really is, take each one out and see if issue goes away. A single 10mm bolt holds them in.

For the rear gate you would have to take apart, wire is at back door ECU in gate or at latch.
Trunk/Hatch Pin pink - Back Door ECU in liftgate, white 26 pin plug, pin 10

So I unplugged all 4 door triggers and unplugged every cable that goes into the ECU in the rear tailgate. That should simulate the wires being cut right?

Either way, the light is still on so idk what to do..

Try metering the wire at each pin switch, see if one of them test as ground.

At this point you have a shorted out wire somewhere or the fusebox/BCM may be bad. Where did you get water damage?

Which door does it show as open on your multi display (if you have one)? I'm betting either a loose voltage drop wire to your doors on your alarm unit (assuming its an aftermarket alarm) or one of your door sensors shit itself.

Do your interior lights turn on when this happens, even in the "Door" position? You can probably pinpoint which section is triggering it to this position, jump the connector via alligator clips/paperclip and seeing if the problem goes away.

Last door ajar light I had on a recent trip was due to the rear hatch gasket. It had come off along the bottom and caused the hatch to close and latch with a gap that apparently caused by the mis-aligned gasket.

I positioned it correctly so the hatch would shut properly and cancel the door light; but I still have to re-attach it properly.

I hauled a long couch for about 14 miles with the tailgate open last weekend and I can sympathize with the door chime driving you nuts. Good luck finding the problem.

So, I yanked the chime out of the instrument panel last night so now this is less of an emergency..lol.

I've gone through lots of high water when I off road so it could have been anywhere.

Unfortunately, I do not have a multi display to tell me which door is "open". I do have a Python aftermarket alarm system.

The dome lights come on only when set to door since the vehicle thinks a door is open. The tailgate lights are set to door but don't go on until I actually open the tailgate, which leads me to believe the problem is not in the tailgate..
