I’ll start by saying, I’m typing his if my iPhone. Sorry for any spelling errors.
Back to the issue. Today I was driving on parkway. Going roughly 65mph. I had the auto cruise on. The truck felt odd to me. ( I know my truck ! ). Something felt weird. I’ll try and describe it in the best way I can.
So I’m driving with auto cruise on. And it feels like the truck is getting jerked. Like pulled back, then 1 second or 2 it feels free. Like if something is grabbing the truck. Holding it back and then releasing. Like a jerking motion. I get of the highway. 4th gear, I feel the engine working not smoothly as it should through the shifter. ( like a missfire). 30 secs down the road, I get a check engine light. P0303. Pull into a parking lot. I remove the spark plug, and it looked clean. Very little if any black on it. I have a spare OEM coil pack. So I replace the coil pack. Put everything back together. Start the truck after clearing the code. It seems to be fine. About a hour later, I’m driving home on the parkway.
Start feeling the same exact jerking motion. Like back and forth. I’m looking arb my scangauge. Checking the RPMS and the MPH and they are steady. But I had pretty bad MPG. At some point it would drop to 8-9mpg. And when it wasn’t jerking it would be 12-15mpg.
About 3-6 months ago. I had a missfire in the same cylinder. I went ahead and replaced All spark plugs with OEM ones. And replaced the NGK wires with OEM wires. The missfire went away. And today, it came back randomly. So the wires, and plugs are new. I’ve switched the coil packs around/replaced some and nothing.
I just checked the resistance of cylinder 3 fuel injector. It was reading ( 56.2 ) when checking the resistance on cylinder 3 injector. My multi was not beeping!
I checked the resistance to cylinder #1 fuel injector. It read ( 16.2 - 16.3 ) the multi meter had a solid “beep”. ( I think this indicates good resistance ).
It’s very cold outside. I checked the resistance with the engine, some what warm and “NOT” fully cooled.
I’m leaning towards a bad fuel injector. The truck has 230Xxx miles. JDM motor. Had the motor in my truck for solid 50k miles. But the injectors are from my kid engine that blew a head gasket. And if I remember correctly. It had coolant in cylinder 3! Now I don’t remember if this injector is exactly from old engine, cylinder 3. In the same location. I don’t know.
What do you guys think and recommend? And if it’s a fuel injector. What ebay buyer do you recommend for OEM one ? And part # for 97 ?
Thank you.
