Need your help on running board

I'm a new owner of a 2015 4Runner SR5. I need to install a running board for my wife. I need help on deciding the right running board that looks good(brand/model/what website/price/etc...) I ordered a tuff bar step and it looked so funny and too low that it did not fit my taste and have to return it(hopefully they will refund me). If you have a picture that would be great, if not it's ok too just lead me to the website so i can research it.

shrockworks have long lead times so they wouldnt be ideal. Several options are out there for boards to be solely used for stepping on (i.e. no major offroad abuse) that are well below that requirement, I know if you looked in the for sale thread you'd fine a handful of like new boards for around $100 that guys have taken off their trucks, maybe even one local

What exactly is the SW lead time on sliders for a 4Runner?

I think it's months now. Since so much was ordered in the GB, they are swamped. I would imagine its at least 3 months or so, but I'm sure [MENTION=119516]jicko[/MENTION] could give a more informed answer.

I would wait as long as I had to...the product is very well constructed. You can tell there is time spent on quality once you put them side by side with the competition.
 
Not to bum-rush your thread Toyota4Runnerguy,...but, I've decided on the Shrockworks Rock Sliders. For guys that have them does getting the textured power coat change the look a lot from the standard black powder coating?
 
Not sure on the price Toyota4runnerguy, but I saw a set of factory Toyota ones on a Trail this week and they looked like what you are looking for from your description. Here is a picture, sorry it's not closer. I really liked the Nfabs convenience though, especially for anyone who isn't planning any real off roading. The step hoops are very naturally placed (my 5'6" wife thought they were perfect) and they look like a factory component.

Agree with above, get a set of the factory Trail step, they are the all black Rigid running boards. New ones pop up in the for sale thread here and there but you usually have to move fast.
 
@OP. My advice to you is twofold: - Yes, get RBs for your short passengers, they are a needed addition in that case.
- No, don't listen to those trying to talk you into any form of sliders/tubes etc. Most of the guys on here either need them or just want them for the perceived cool factor. Flat running boards work best for your stated purpose, and they are often found on the 5G classified section. Just be sure you know which boards fit your 4R.

This has been discussed before. The "alternate search" in the stickies section works best.

EDIT: Agree with [MENTION=91899]Jhalko[/MENTION] , those rigids look great, tempted many times to change, just haven't.

Agree with the above. My wife is 5' and she likes the stock runnig boards for the most part. Not sure if you have little ones or not, but my 10 year old does not like the way the running boards sit when getting out. If you dig through the forum there are a few complaints about how the stock boards do not stick out very far due to the extra trim piece on the bottom of the SR5 and Limited lines. You can take it off but it may look like crap. Getting in is never a problem it is more the getting out that sucks. I am 6'4" so getting in and out is not an issue.

Shrockworks Slider with Dimpled Thread is one of the BEST that you can get. Probably overkill for you. Also cost like $600ish, with a 8-12 weeks lead time.

If you just want a step, you can get the factory "running board", a lot of us take it off immediately and put on a slider. So, look around, there will be people selling them. BUT, they are popular, and generally can fetch close to the "MSRP", so you can just get it at your dealership. Take you like 15-30min to install. Used/took off can be sold for $300-$350 (I sold mine $300), brand new at dealership is about $350-400 out the door.

Btw, there are 3 stock OEM running boards that come with the vehicle 2014+:
R6 (SR5/LE) black end caps, chrome strip
KH (SR5/TE) rigid all black
KG (LE) automatic

KH is the one that came with mine, and IMO, looks the BEST, and it is also the one that is the most seeked after.
