Needing an air/water tight food storage container

I am trying to find a large container, kind of like a large Rubbermaid tub, that we could use for storing food when we are on trips. One of the places we go has a sugar ant problem, so when we buy all our bread, chips and other snacks we have to store them in the microwave or fridge to keep the ants away. I know a Yeti (or similar) cooler would work, but i also don't want to spend $400. If any of you outdoorsmen have any suggestions for an air/water tight container, that wouldn't break the bank, i would greatly appreciate it.

Most any $20 cooler should be airtight. There are also smaller Rubbermaid totes with snap-lock handles that would work for you. In a pinch, keep it all in a large trash bag with a knot tied in the top.

You could also try some of the bear canisters on the market. Just make sure that it's airtight (not all of them are).

I keep every food item in my truck inside a big ammo can (I think it's a 40mm). That keeps it away from any larger critter, but also the mosquitos (aka the "Minnesota State Bird"), black flies, and ticks.

I second Ammo cans from any Army surplus store. Look online also for them.

If you can get the 40mm ones or 50cal ammo cans. I have 2 40mm in my truck and love them.
