Needing help with selecting Bumpers

I just bought a 98 Limited 4Runner with the e-locker option about three weeks ago and I am adding lots of modifications to it and now I'm looking for the right front and rear bumpers to install on it. So far I have installed a K&N CAI, 22" Magnaflow Muffler, New 16" MB Wheels, 285/75R 16 Grabber AT2 tires, Alpine Stereo, amplifier and door Speakers, Sony 800W amp and Subwoofer, Custom built Cargo Box and a 3" Old Man Emu (Heavy) Lift Kit. Next step is Bumpers and Rock Sliders, which I'm having custom Rock Sliders built for me locally, but I don't know which Bumpers to go with? I have read and seen a lot of information on the ARB Bumpers and know that they are quaility parts. But while doing lots of research I came across the Tactical Armor Group (TAG) and they offer the same type of bumpers, but for much less money. Everything that I see and read about them, they seem to offer the same quaility but for far less $$$. Has anyone heard of them or bought them, I would like to get feedback from anyone that knows about TAG and their products vs ARB bumper. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance for the help.

I feel this is a matter of opinion. We all like different things around here. I'm a fan of the ODL bumpers my self. I know for the area I will be going back to, a hoop of some sort is almost a must because of the deer. Just my .02 on it. Just keep it clean and classy no matter what you do.

Aaron - CBI Off-Road offers some great products for 4Runners, the only thing I am trying to accomplish is to buy quality parts for the right price. If I can get a Front and Rear bumper from TAG for the same cost of just the front bumper else where, I have to question if the products from TAG are as good as the ARB, CBI Off-Road and other manufactures. If so, the money I can save will go to all the other items that I have on my list to finish out my build.

Ol'Blue - You've got it right, "Just keep it clean and classy no matter what you do" is exactly my mission on this build. I did a seach on Outdoor Logic bumpers and all I could find is the 3rd Gen 4Runner Front Bumper and it looks great, but if I seached their site, something is wrong and won't pull up any other pages of products. Will try again or call them tomorrow, their pricing is very good and that is exactly what I'm looking for. Great recommendation, Thanks!

You better do a little more research about TAG. Even though their stuff might look good on picture. Once you receive your bumper good luck get your money back. Plenty of horror threads about that company and owner. The company use to be AKA Kennesaw Mountain. Yeah, I'd stick with the sponsors on here, they are more reputable.
 
OffRoadGuy - That's why I'm reaching out and trying to make sure that I buy quality brand products for my build. Great info and much appreciated!
 
Outdoor Logic, CBI, Shrockworks, 4x Innovations, Addicted Offroad, Savage Offroad and ARB are all known fabricators of bumpers for third gens. There are at least a few people who own these bumpers. Google any of them and you can see multiple images of the bumpers.
TAG has been through three or four names in the past 5 years...and I have yet to read of a good experience with them.

RUN RUN RUN RUN from TAG, they are crazy, the bumpers are not quality, they might look good in pictures, but in person there is a lot left to be desired. im not a profesional welder by any means, but i can weld way better than any of the guys at TAG, there welds are crap, their design is just a back yard design with nothing special or innovated...

there is a guy on here who has TAG bumpers, i saw his rig at a local shop and was intreaged by the bumpers from a few feet away but once i got up to them, they looked home built in some guys garage, plunty of members here can do way better jobs, i have done almost all the welding jobs on my truck, and they look pro compared to their stuff, the owner of the other truck wasnt so pleased either, had some issues, and said you get what you pay for...

id rather save up and buy a good well know reputable company like others have mentioned, they all have a lot of good quality products and a name to back them up. a company like TAG, obviously looks at you as a profit source, not a customer, and they have no qualms about pulling a fast one over on you, and getting their name trashed, after all they have a track record of just changing names to clear up their name.
 
4xI will be introducing their new rear bumper on the 5th/6th of October at the Off-road expo.

If it's nearly as well priced/built as their front, those 2 things may be my next purchases.

My personal favorite is "shrockworks.com" love the look of the bumpers, and they are strong as hell!
 
Millerad - Very good info and thanks for the links that you attached, very, very helpful... I will continue to do my research, thanks to all of the information you and others provided.
 
Chandlerdoom, I can wait, just wanting to get my rock sliders on and then start driving it at an adventure park here in Texas, so I can get use to my 4Runner as an off-road vehicle. It's pretty well set up for moderate type of terrain and I am going to attend a course which teaches proper techniques of 4wheeling in AZ. The bumpers are a large purchase and I just want to make sure I get a good brand for the right price.
 
I am done looking at the TAG bumpers... I've heard enough about them to convince me that they are not a brand to go with. Now I am looking at all of the other brands that are known and are recommended. I am glad I address this post, I could not find a link which would have given me the information that all of the replies have. Thanks to all!!!
 
Shrockworks. front bumper is super tight & beautiful. . . the rear is solid with side protection. . . they take forever to get made, but one you get them you will be satisfied with the wait. you can have a look at them on my build thread below. . .
 
Well it looks like I'm going with Shrockworks - Front and Rear Bumpers and Rock Sliders. They have a great reputation for quality build and I really like their Rear Bumper Options. Then when I looked to see where they are located, to estimate shipping cost, they are in Houston, TX and I am in Austin, TX (2 1/2 hours away) so I can go pick them up and possibly have them installed there. Thanks to all for the input and advise, I'll be sure to post pics when they are installed. I will order later this week and then have to wait for them to be built, but at least I will be getting exactly what I was looking for.

If you want to see them installed, I'm in north Austin and have front/rear bumpers and sliders from then installed on mine.
