New 2001 Limited

I just picked up a 2001 4Runner Limited, and thought I would show it off here... I'm new to the forum, and have already picked up a bunch of great info.

My mom bought a brand new 1996 4Runner SR5 5-speed when I was in middle school, and I've wanted to get a 3rd gen ever since.

I got lucky and found a very clean '01 with 77k miles. I would have preferred a 5-speed, but my wife doesn't drive stick, so the Limited works well for us.

Thanks guys... I'm not going to do anything major with it. It's primarily for winter trips to Tahoe in the snow, and I don't plan on taking it off-road.

The power antenna isn't working right, and thanks to some research on here I already got the replacement antenna on eBay. Just need to go pick up some silicone lubricant so I can do the repair tomorrow.

Where's the rust? That's a nice pick up with 77k. Congrats. I really believe that there are some subtle differences between the older 3rd gens and the latter (i.e. paint, undercoating, throttle response). Could just be me. Nice truck.

Very nice, always liked that color scheme! Good looking truck looking forward to seeing the upgrades!

Great find! that is one of my favorite color schemes as well. Must be one of the lowest-mileage 3rd gens that is still out there. It will last you FOREVER with proper maintenance. I have 237,xxx miles on my 98 and will most definitely be looking for a lower mileage later model 3rd gen once mine kicks the can. You just can't beat the timeless looks/reliability/capability of these 3rd gens. Enjoy it for the many many years to come my friend!

Good luck with it i bought a 99 same combo last year with 76k on it now i am at 84k enjoy
quick question for all of you when you press the multimode 4x4 button side of lever i feel and hear it goe into gear but the gauge flashes the 4 wheels is that ok?

Nice purchase! Not usually a big fan of the two-tone color, but I dig it in the silver and black!

Wow, nice catch. Does it go into 4wd (pushing the button) without issue?

Yes, it seems to work fine. I only tested the 4WD for a few moments, not wanting to drive with it engaged on dry pavement, but it seems to engage and disengage without any issues. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to try it out in the snow soon! :)

Looks like black pearl emblems also... I'm guessing you have heated leather seats to?

I was wondering what those emblems were called... I've seen the gold emblems before, but I had never seen the blacked out ones. I like how they look.

Yup, it's got the heated seats. I think it has every option; 6-disc CD changer, Rear diff. locker, etc.

It sure is nice. Mine is identical to yours but has double the miles and I still love driving it daily. You should have that for a long while!
