after that you will pull the top of the fender up and over the "lip" on the side core support and out of the way, exposing the two bolts per side of the lower hood hinge. these are the bolts you must remove, they are 12mm. this is where a second paid of hands will come to help, once you unbolt both bolts on one side the hood will want to kick back and could pinch your hand to the hood -not good. ignore the two giant washers. if you install these correctly you will never do this or need any info on them, this apart of my screw up and improper installation. as per CBI instructions the brackets/mounts go ontop of the hood hinge.

in those last few you can see how, the snorkel and the bracket hit, and thus holds the fender out about 3/4" from being able to be reattached (both fender and snorkel)

and this is what i was talking about with the grove. it could be more pronounced and larger... even though i did install the bracket wrong, i still think the grove could be made with a little more clearance, not sure if i would have this same issue if installed correctly... especially on the lower part of the bracket in the last pic

id say if it was 1" forward it would probably work, i dont think the antenna would be in the way either(i have the taco whip so its a full antenna)

(again this will not be an issue if you install them correctly and fallow the instructions. -if you chose to install the way i have shown, then simply pushing down on the edge of the hood will gently bend it back to almost its original location)

PIAA 410 -designed and made to be a factory replacement for Ford F series trucks, it replaces the fog lights in the bumper

you could mount almost any light to this bracket, and it would clear the hood. if CBI makes adjustments to the brackets to accommodate the snorkel, the light would have to be a shallow light, but there is still plenty of room to chose from several lights. id say most all lights would fit. i know my PIAA 80 pro xt lights would fit and they are a big light, my IPF 800MSRs(the big round ones on my ARB bumper) however probably would not, as it is a deep light.

[MENTION=60147]the kid[/MENTION] I think some of your issues are caused by the fact that you put them under your hood hinge. As per the instructions they are supposed to go on top of the hinge. Just installed a set on [MENTION=78892]FR4R[/MENTION] truck and they fit fine, hood is level after a small tweak and the hinge lines up with the cutouts so no interference there.

edit: obviously this wont fix the snorkel issue

ah... silly me, you are correct, but still thats only gonna fix the hood reveal issue as you stated... for me the hinge being ontop of the bracket actually works better as it allows room for the coax cable to fit between the hood and the cowling without being pinched.

again instructions with the product would have cleared this up... running back into the house to check the computer at every step is just not practical

Yea I can see how it would help in your situation. Thin light wires are nothing compared to a coax. Sucks about the snorkel issue. I was debating a pair of these but I have plans to make a snorkel once I head back to OK so it will probably be a no-go for me as well.

i wouldnt hold off on thses if you are gonna make your own snorkel... but then again it wouldnt say oh yeah these will work... all i can say is they wont work with the ARB snorkel as they are now.

now if CBI decides to modify their design(id recommend it, as i shouldnt be too much more work ie an updated design -say "2.0" lol) then it should work just fine. but yeah you might want to hold off to see if they decide to change things up a little. but if you do buy now and find out that they dont work, i dont think you would have issues reselling them, heck i had my passenger side sold before i even mentioned anything about selling it to anyone... i had someone in mind that might want it -a good friend of mine is looking at buy a 3rd gen tomorrow and figured he might want it for his CB, but a member here jump the gun and asked first... well being as though i have not offered it to the other guy as of yet, and he has yet to actually own one, i figured take my offer while it stands... i think these will be popular enough that people will want them. they are good quality, and from a reputable manufacture, and a decent price -look at the drifter CB mount, almost $50 for one mount that is less steel, please... these are a great deal if you ask me very very versatile will work with a ton of different lights or other items, as seen above.

overall this product is of great quality and CBI did not disappoint considering how fast they came up with this product, and the thought that went into it and the design of it. i would not hesitate to recommend this item to anyone. maybe CBI should think of selling these individually for CB antenna mounts as well -pics of my antenna wired up

i have not bothered to play with the mount and remount it properly... too much work lol... i just pushed down on the hood and massaged it into alignment gently as to not dent or crease anything. its unnoticeable really, but the bracket being under the hood hinge raises the hood up enough to give my GPS wire and loom and my coax cable room to fit through there without damage or rubbing. so i think im gonna leave it as is.

what say you [MENTION=64712]CBI OffRoad Fab[/MENTION], i have a couple of other people who might be interested in buying these if they become available in single sale...

This really works better as a CB antenna mount IMO, the location of the rear hatch CB antenna mount is pretty bad for performance and tuning of the CB radio, despite how cool they look. this location looks way better.

i was thinking the same thing... the only issue would i could foresee would be the size and type of light you chose to run... smaller or thinner lights yield better results -but antennas like to have the area around them free of obstructions for signal reception. but yes im sure it could be done.
