I have just purchased my first 4 Runner. I am new to this site as well as to the united States.
I purchased a 1997 4 Runner SR5 3.4 4X4 220K miles
I have just had two brake hoses replaced, a shock and a sway bar link for the safety inspection, this wasn't too bad as I got the truck for $600
I have now noticed that it over heats when idling at stop lights. I checked the fluid and it was empty, I filled the tank and didn't notice and leaking, but the next day or so it was empty again.
yesterday when I arrived home, the truck was making a loud pressurized hissing noise from around the top of the radiator, I also noticed a rusty looking water that had sprayed under the hood and dripped onto the near side head light
is this just a simple case of a broken radiator, I cant seem to pin point the location of the hissing exactly
whats the best way of locating a leak?
