Hi everyone I'm new here. Been dealing with Hondas ever since coming to America in '99, and several months ago my dad bought two Isuzu Troopers but those are a pain, sold one so far and got a 4Runner with a 3VZ in it. It has a hole in the block I think the owner ran low on oil, he said he didn't know much about cars.
So we got another long block my cousin had that's seized but it might be bad also because it threw a rod as well, my dads currently taking it apart to see for sure.
I researched some and found that they put the 3VZ-FE in older Camry and ES300 featuring forged crank I think and rods ad DOHC heads. My question is can I swap in the FE and it's ECU? And would the wiring all work out or will I need to swap the harness also?
Thanks.

you will need the harness and ECU of the FE engine and about 100 hours of customization to make it work.
your better off finding a running 3vze and just doing a direct swap.
i recently bought a 91 pickup with a running engine for 500$ the frame rot on these trucks is legendary also a lot of 4x4 guys dont like the 3vze so they swap them out all the time im sure you could find a deal on a running engine.
also keep in mind if the hole in the block is not in a critical place like the cylinder wall you could take it to a welder that can do cast iron and just seal the hole up.

if you can get us pictures of the hole and its proximity to critical parts we can let you know if you can save it.

Thanks a lot!
I also read on another forum that you can swap the DOHC heads to the 3VZE for some more power. Is it worth doing that?
