New addition to the family

We finally took the plunge. We added a T4R to our family, and us to the Toyota family. Gotta, say, I'm already loving our new 2008 Shadow Mica v6 SR5 4x4. Bought her with 14 miles on the clock.

It's already been in the shop for some minor adjustments: straighten steering wheel, minor alignment adjustment, and....well, we're waiting on Toyo to replace a bad Mich XT tire. It's out of round. Why? Well... I dunno. But since all the tire were inflated to 42 psi, and the spare to 48 psi, I have my suspicions.

Anyway, it's great to add another beautiful and capable truck to the stall. Looking forward to another Idaho winter now.

Thanks, alaskaman. Here's a pic of her sitting in the driveway...still bone stock for now. Tint, dashmat and homelink coming very soon, then we'll see. I LOVE this color!

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. Shadow Mica is my fav 4Runner color. But, I have an Urban Runner and they don't come in that color. So I settled for Black...

I am not trying to make you nervous, but I was wondering why yours needed an alignment, balancing, tire and etc. I hope nothing happened during transportation. I would definitely investigate... That car wouldn't be approved thru the finish line in the manufacturing plant like that.

Yeah. I looked it over pretty good, top to bottom and underneath. Didn't see any evidence of anything suspicious. The adjustments were really minor. The fact that the tires were so dramatically over-inflated doesn't bode well for alignment or tire integrity. I'm not too worried. I'm a rather knit-picky guy and the dealer has been very accommodating. No complaints thus far. The wife has been driving th runner since (still waiting for a tire) and said it's been just fine. She's pretty picky, too. Rest assured, they know our expectations are very high, and they've not balked at meeting any of them.

Honestly, this is, so far, one of the best dealership experiences I've ever had. Teton Toyota in Idaho Falls came highly recommended, and they haven't disappointed yet.

Can't wait to get the runner off road, but I think the wife is gonna make me wait until she gets it thoroughly coated with Liquid Glass. Then I'll have to wait until it gets dirty before I can go get it REALLY dirty.

There was a TSB out on the tires flat spotting, don't recall what brand of tires though. It shouldn't happen unless your 4Runner was sitting on the lot for a long long time. When I had my beater, I let my 4Runner sat for over a month. No problems with the tires. I have Michelin CrossTerrains.

Don't worry much about the tire pressure, a friend of mine had his car delivered with 52psi in one tire. Just make sure they're properly inflated now. I'm going to guess they over inflate the tires at the factory to make it easier to activate the TPMS after its journey across the Pacific at the dealer. From what I recall, the PDI (pre-delivery inspection) it says the sensors are turned off or asleep and they're activated by a rapid drop in pressure released through the stem for a couple seconds.

Good insight, Uneek. I don't think there's any chance of flat-spotting on these. MFG date is 05/08. It only had 8 miles on the clock when I first test drove it, and there was still some goo on the hood from the freshly peeled protective plastic. I think it'll be fine with the new shoe.

BTW - The dealer had to buff out a few very fine scratches in the clear coat (hardly noticeable) and wound up deciding to pay for the Homelink console we ordered to make up for the inconvenience. Did I mention that I like this dealer?

Now I just need to find a good dealer/installer for Llumar tint film.
