New Alpine Scion OEM DVD HU...

It seems odd that Alpine would design a whole new unit for a run of only 2000, but then I don't really know what it takes to be profitable in that business.

Maybe it will eventually show up elsewhere with greater availability.

Based on some research its the Scion xB RS3.0 Limited that has a 2200 car production run, not the Alpine unit. I'm not sure if the Alpine unit is put into other cars though. Nobody seems to know the part number not even at scionlife.com

Scion Xb Release Series 3.0... they are all Envy Green color.
The alpine went into all of them, but no other models.

Oh, I love it. Probably the only thing that I'd want more is the nav unit.

Haven't had a chance to wire up the monitor yet, but its on the to-do list.

I just picked up this head unit off of Craigslist ($200 + shipping).

Anything I should know before I do the install?

What did you do with the Diversity Antenna?

Did you add XM?

I just taped off the little antenna, don't see a use for it anyway, didn't make a difference. Never added XM, sorry.

Did you ever have a remote or instruction manual for the head unit?

Both. I bought two of these units, one brand new it came with the whole set-up, including monitors, brackets, and all wiring.

Well, all I got was the radio. I assume that it's plug and play and that I don't need any additional wiring (other than ipod or XM should I go that route later)... right?

That's correct, its p'n'p with the existing radio harness(es.) I was talking about the wiring for the head rest monitors and the complete setup for dvd audio/video system. You should be all good.

I'm getting the XM Receiver and Fit kit for it next.

For some strange reason, I was led to believe that this was a 6 changer DVD. Is that the case (and I just don't know how to work it), or is this a single DVD player?
