New clicking noise...help!

Hey guys,

tonight i noticed a new clicking noise. It is low enough to not hear it when i have music playing. When i accelerate, i hear a clicking noise. The harder i accelerate, the louder/more pronounced it is. And yes, this is a new noise, i have not heard it before tonight. This morning I had an automatic starter/alarm system installed but I can't see how this can relate to that. When I am sitting in the truck, it sounds like it is coming from the left side. The engine was fully warmed up, everything good, temperature good, power is there, no lights, just this ticking. Not due for an oil change until i hit 88,000 (just hit 85,000 tonight). Also, all windows closed so it doesn't sound like the normal clicking noise heard when the windows are down. It used to not do this before and now it does so that is why I worry. My powertrain warranty expires in 500 miles or 2 weeks, whichever comes first so I would really like to get this taken care of incase it is covered under warranty. Thank you for any help.

If it gets louder as you accelerate its prob the manifold. Take it to a muffler shop and they will listen for the noise.

just thought i should give an update...i had the alarm fixed today. while he was at it, i had the installer cut a slit into the rubber grommet instead of the way he had it, which was open with the wires under it. the wires now go through the slit, the grommet is closed and the wires are more secure..thus, the clicking has stopped :trophy:. all it was was that the wires were not tightly secured and the wind and vibration of the engine was moving the wires enough to create the clicking noise, i imagine with the rubber grommet open, it was allowing more vibrations to happen behind it too. i am happy this is resolved as i probably would have taken it in to the dealer who would have found something "big" to charge me on.
