new comer with some questions

i just bought a 88 with an 3.0 v6 and auto trans i have a buddy that keeps telling me about the horror stories of the two that they have had and how bad they were. I was wondering if there is any thing i need to do to use it as a mud bogger or any thing i need to watch out for on it to break. Any knowledge would be great i drive a one tone diesel so the 4 wheeling and what is the first to break is new to me

Well, the horror stories are probably exaggerated, but choosing a 3.0/auto equipped truck for a mud bogger is a poor choice. No way that's going to turn out well.
