New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

Just ordered my second set of Wildpeaks for the 4R. I've had them for 2 years and 52k miles and they have been great on road trips, including Ouray and Moab trips. They've probably got another 5-7k miles on them, but I got DT to price match at $158 ea (SL load range), and figured I'd replace them before the weather gets bad. They have gotten a bit louder with the last couple thousand miles, but not terrible.

$158?!? Where did you price match that from? I have been looking for SL Wildpeaks but they have become way overpriced lately

I price matched from Gridiron Tire, funny thing is, now they list em at $219ea! That's why I decided to go ahead and get new tires now, instead of squeeze the last couple thousand miles out of them. Guess I got lucky.

It looks like these were announced about a month ago, but I haven't seen much info on them other than they were replacing the Falken Wild Peaks. Despite the great reviews on the Wild Peak/Rocky Mountains, I was really hesitant to run them because of the poor grooving and how they look like street tires when worn rather than an AT.

Looks like the new A/T3W's are fully grooved now. Anyone else hear anything about these tires? Judging from the press photos, it looks like Demello is testing these out on their 4Runner. The sidewalls look a little bland to me, but I'm curious about these.

I love them! 285/70/17 I off road a lot and they're excellent in all conditions. Mud, snow, heavy rain, aired down on trail. Only tire I've ran that didn't chunk out with my adrenaline junkie driving style. Most surprisingly they are awesome around curves when inflated properly. They have a good aggressive look. The only issue I have is I'm only getting about ten thousand miles out of a set not the advertised 55,000. I believe that's just my driving though. I still buy them again anyways, due to the superb performance. Here are some pictures.

Got my 275/70/17 AT3’s installed. This is my 3rd vehicle that I have had them installed on and they are a fantastic tire IMO. Ordered a 1” Cornfed spacer which will level it out nicely.

Did you notice a significant mpg drop with the new wildpeaks? From what I can tell they are a bit heavier than the stock tires.

10k miles out of a set??? Sounds like u need a dedicated sports car…or is the lack of one to keep u from getting into too much trouble? And I thought us getting 6k less than the full miles was bad.

Yeah to stay out of trouble haha. I've had sports cars and a few crotch rockets. I can't seem to control myself so I unwillingly had to get away until I get older. I think it's kind of bs falken doesn't cover this for over a grand and the 55000 mileage. No you're doing good that close. Definitely getting expensive.

I am at over 30K miles and still have 9-10/32's! I couldn't even deal with only getting 10K a set

Maybe a 1mpg drop. I don't get more than 15.5 anyway. My driving style and short trips don't help. Even my Outback only got 18mpg. When I had the 285's on my Pro I got 13 so these are a huge improvement over those.

But not in the 275 and I prefer the bigger size that needs no mods like the 285’s.

Are you saying you didn’t have to do any bumper trimming, mud flap removal/modifications, or fender liner relocation with these 275s? I have the exact same setup as you: 2022 SR5P, TRD wheels, cornfed 1” front spacer. Would like larger tires but really don’t want to chop up my bumper or move fender liners like I did in my 2017.

No mods. Didn't need any mods even before the spacer and alignment.

Wow...the price increase on these tires is amazing. Tire Rack, Discount Tire, and even Wally World is asking over $200 per tire. Compare this with the $127.59 each I paid through Amazon back in May 2020...

Granted, COVID has hit everyone between raw materials, labor shortages, as well as all the other downstream logistics costs...anyone out there in the tire industry with an idea of when tire prices might start to fall a bit?

This Omicron might just perpetuate the issue.....

Yeah I paid way over $200/tire for 275's. I've never got a good deal on tires and I've bought dozens of sets in last 10 years. These are great tires on and off road so they are worth it to me.

I'm running stock sized 265s in SL rating. Mid 2019, I paid $140 per tire. Jan 2020, I paid $97 for the same tire. This month I paid $158 per tire. I also have A/T3Ws in 37x12.5r17s for a Jeep and paid $360ea in Nov 2020, now the same tire is $440ea! I put 52k miles on the first set of 265s, and probably could've gotten another 5k out of them, but I decided to go ahead and get new ones since I found them at $158ea vs DT current $208ea.

Anyone running these in 275/70/17 with 17x8.5 0 offset wheels?

Checking if mounting this setup on a TRD Pro 4runner would rub?

If it did, should be minimal, but good chance of nothing. I have 285/70R17 with 0mm offset wheels, and there was just a tad of rubbing until I put wheel spacers on and now it rubs a lot, but doesn't bother me. I let it self clear when it hits hard hehe.

Ended up just doing it:

275/70 w/ Method 701 17x8.5

I'll have to inspect further tomorrow, but didn't notice any rub.

Looks good.

Be sure to test backing up and turning full lock. When you reverse the suspension compresses a little, bringing the tires up into the wheel wells and increasing chances for rubbage.

I agree. Looks really good! Dig the wheels too. We just upgraded from OEM Off Road Premium wheels and tires to the TRD Pro wheels and Falken Wildpeaks AT3Ws in 265/70/17 E Load.

They rub under hard right/left under braking. Used a $30 heat gun to bend the mudflats out of the way. Sorta helped. I might try to hit it again, but it rubs so rarely, I may not bother.

Quick question: I am going 285/70/17 for sure, but I am debating on exactly what load I want to run. Right now I have 275/70/18 E (60.8 lbs), which has been a phenomenal tire. BUT I am switching to TRD wheels and want to cut as much rotational weight as possible. I am reading on Falkens site that the SL, C, E weight 50.5, 63.7, 58.9.

How is it possible that the C is heavier than the E load? Is anyone in CO running SL and not having any problems getting to hiking/mountain trails?
