Is it crazy to consider selling the Nitto TG’s and replacing them with these A/T3W’s? I don’t even have 600 miles on the Nitto’s yet.

Nitto TGs are okay in rain but they suck in snow. Keep your Nitto and get a set of snow tires if winter is brutal in your area.

Wildpeaks are far superior to those crappy terra grapplers. Cooper at3s are better than the terra grappler.

I have had no issues with the Wildpeaks in heavy rain at 7/32nds. I have zero complaints about their on road performance.

The vehicle itself, being normally RWD in town, is not good for urban snow conditions though--so there is that.

You can get the Wildpeaks for 114 each on Amazon right now. I am contemplating doing so myself though mine are good for now. They lose their first 2/32nds quickly, then wear stabilizes. They are good on road until 6/32nds or so at which point braking starts to suffer a little. Probably toast by 4/32 but I replace mine at 6 due to offroading. They are excellent offroad even if not the strongest possible tire for the desert here. But I had no issues on stick and logs littered trails in Montana at 7/32nds.

It’s just so difficult to get real factual information about tires other than the tread, construction, size and weight. Most of the time reviews are just opinions and biases against brands. I have the Nitto TG G2’s and have been overall quite pleased with them in a variety of conditions. I’ve run ko2s and duratracs and the nittos have been quite comparable for me in the wet and snow. There are some light trails that I do that are on top of a mountain that requires a 3.5 mile climb to the top and in the winter the narrow access road is not maintained and i haven’t had any issues with snow traction on the climb up. Now I’m sure that people have had other experiences with them but you really can expect that from all tires, differing opinions and experiences since all of us drive differently and drive in different conditions. I will say though that no all terrain tire, no matter what brand, can be expected to be excellent in icy or hard packed snow. Or on wet roads accelerating from a dead stop.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous at all. Barring one opinion here and there, the Falkens perform better than the Terra Grapplers by a large consensus of opinions. You have a brand new truck. You should enjoy it as much as you possibly can and tires are the single most important thing to improve or change your driving experience.

Because the TGs aren’t a bad tire, I am willing to bet you can sell them super quickly on Craigslist or the like and put money in your pocket or at least cover making the change to the Falkens. This is a no-brainer to me at all.

The only gripe that’s occurred here in the extremely long running thread (I’ve read through it at least twice) is noise level, comfort and wear between p metrics and LT. Beyond that, I’ve heard very little complaining (if any really) on performance in pretty much any conditions. These are the tires to beat.

And it’s a great choice. I love these tires and in stock size, I can honestly say they performed better in the snow than my current 285/70 sizing. These tires really live up to all the hype.

I've never used Terra grapplers, but the KO2 is also an AT tire and the AT3W is significantly better in the rain so I don't think this is a solid line of reasoning

I might have gotten a little more than the $300 I got for them but It paid for almost half of the Falkens and I just wanted to get them out of my already crowded garage so I'm happy about that. So far, I love the Falkens.

So there you have it. I emailed a guy who had posted used 255 75 17 Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx as I really wanted to see how that tire would feel. However, he never replied.

Meanwhile, I noticed the SL Wildpeak in 265 for 114 at Amazon. 114! I don't need a set till July and my current one will be useful till December (just too old for the planned summer offroading) but I could not resist.

I also had a 170$ gift card so I paid less than 350 for 4 SL Wildpeaks delivered.

At the end of the day, I love experimenting and learning, but this is a tire that works extremely well in all conditions. Longevity is a non-issue at 114/tire and the possibility of an occasional puncture once in a blue moon is small price to pay for the excellent on road manners every day.

I will store them till July, then use them, then finish my current set, then get back to the new ones. And I will keep them pristine with the stickers on so I can re-sell them by July if something makes me change my mind.

That’s insane and waaaay too good of a deal to pass! Congrats! I don’t want to say what we’re all thinking, but these tires should be selling for way more money. The quality and performance is amazing and I know the value to performance is why they’re so hot.

I’m like you in that I’m obsessed with tires and like trying new things. I’ve still been looking around extensively but I just can’t find anything that hits everything like these do. My only regret is not waiting for load range C but it wasn’t an option yet at the time I purchased. I may go that route next time but at the sacrifice of weight over SL.

I’m considering MTs but then I ask myself why. Because all my friends have MTs? These have pulled me through everything their MTs have and I get a better on road ride. I’m not in search of mud so unless that changes I can’t see making that move.
