Snow report:
I just had a chance last night to REALLY test these out in my current size (285/70-17, SL) and they did amazing. I was out in at least 4” of snow, near blizzard conditions and with roads that were at times totally untouched, to packed snow, to slushy stuff where some salt was spread. It also turned to an icing event so I got a good deal of ice tossed into the mix.
The wider size vs 265 is definitely felt but still did great. Of course starting from a stop is phenomenal with the 4R and 4WD engaged. That is to be expected even with highway tires though. Where you really test the winter performance and snowflake rating is stopping, and these tires never failed to impress. With no one on the road, I was able to do pretty much anything I wanted including abrupt panic stops, hard starts, and everything in between. This tire is superb and further confuses my decision to maybe move into the Falken MT.
I had no issues and no drama going through snow drifts, plowing around corners, stopping abruptly (ABS certainly helped) or powering up hills, on a turn, from a stop, with snow at least 8” high at points from drifting. These tires did everything I asked of them and could have easily been out with my family and had no concerns.
KO2s and Ridge Grapplers never came close to this level of prowess. Kudos Falken.
