Anyone have a scale verified weight of the 285s?

P285/70R17 weigh 50.49lbs.
LT285/70R17 6 ply weigh 62.80lbs.
LT285/70R17 10 ply weigh 58.86lbs.
LT285/75R17 10 ply weigh 65.48lbs.
Why the 6 ply LT285/70R17 weighs more than the 10 ply is beyond me, but these figures are straight from Falken.

This is exactly what i did. Got a set of 5 MT Falkens for $400 and a set of 5 AT falkens for $600. both sets LT285/70/17 C load.

...really?!?! Hmmm... I may have to do this!!!
My understanding is that the heavier ones use older metal belts and the lighter ones reflect higher strength material that is more lightweight. I also believe that is why they're really firesaling these tires - new models all use the newer lighter material. I could be wrong, but I've seen that repeated now a few times on these tires in social media posts.

I only have 11k on my LTC KO2s, but I’m thinking of picking up a set of these to keep around until the BFGs wear out. It’s hard to pass up a set of tires for <$400. Hmmm...

First 5,000 mile tire rotation. I’ve had a dramatic increase in noise recently on my P285/70-17.
My tread depth went from a measured 14/32 to now 11/32 with cupping. I’m psychotic about alignment, tire pressures, and general maintenance of the vehicle. To say I’m pissed is an understatement.

Discount Tire advocated for me and my situation. They downright said they can tell I take care of my vehicle and talked to Falken on the phone. They got Falken to accept an out-of-round complaint on the front tires and authorized the rears as well for excessive wear. So they’re offering me a full replacement set at no cost to me which is awesome.
So I have to now decide if I move to the Falken MT/01 in load range C or E, or stay with the AT3W in load range C. It’s kind of a tough choice honestly.

Just threw on 285/75/17 at3ws to replace trusty old KO2s. Was hesitant to switch from the tried and true. Man am I glad I did.

On P-Metrics, I am running 35 front and rear. My chalk line test was ideal. The cupping issue has me convinced I got a bad batch of tires or something.
I ran this tire in stock size without an issue.
