New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

Much appreciated. I'm leaning more towards 265/70/17s, which I'm thinking I'd keep on stock rims. Something about them I like, so I'll keep them for now. I've got a little bit of time left before I trade out for the next set, but this definitely helps me get a grip on what I'm looking for!

I am on my 3rd set of Falken Wild Peak ATs, $ for $ there truly is not a better AT tire. Yes the AT3W are a tad louder that highway tread (HT) tires and the WP AT1s and AT2s. Also AT vs. HT are apples and oranges different. For an AT tire these are the quietest on the road and could rival 75% of the HT tires out there. I will preface my "tad" of road noise by saying I cannot stand constant tire hum. I have a history of getting rid of tires (GY Triple Tred on a Camry for example) because could no longer tolerate driving the car with them. Get the Falkens you will love the look, road handling and comfort.

Any reason on why you're selling them? Also, are they the P-rated or LT-rated?

They are just bigger than what I wanted. I like my 255/75's just fine.
Mine are P rated. I see no need to run a E/LT rated tire on a 4Runner unless you are doing some serious rock crawling or extended desert runs.

I'm looking to buy the same size your running also in a P series, what do you mean to big? Do you have a lot of rubbing?
I'm on have a 2.5 lift up front with aftermarket UCAs and plan on using stock TE wheels.

My 2014 4runner is my 3rd Toyota (Tacoma, FJ also). Recently got Falken AT3W's in 285/70/17 P rated. Couldn't be happier. Quiet, aggressive, and fairly cheap. They look much better in person than in internet pics. Highly recommended. I came from Firestone Destination AT's and Revo 2's. I'm running OEM FJ cruiser wheels and 5100's all around. 1.75" in the front and a 1.5 daystar spacer in rear (I tow so I need some rake). Trimmed the front plastic lower fender (same as OEM TRD Pro front fender mod) and moved the liner fwd. No rubbing.

So far 10k miles haven't rotated them and there's hardly any wear. I was out shooting in the desert and got home and noticed over a dozen roofing nails stuck in them pulled them all out and no leaks thank god. Dry traction offroad is good but I've had traction issues in mud they seem to cake easy. On road they ride smooth and quiet did have slight steering wheel shimmy over certain road conditions tho but that could be the aftermarket rims.

Thanks for the quick reply. How's the weight on the tires? Can you feel them on the road? I have some Nitto Ridge Grapplers E rated 265s and you can feel the weight.

They aren't light lol but they are a lt e rated tire and lighter then the general grabbers I was going to run originally.

As to feeling them, they're not that noticeable but then again I only had the stock tires on for a week. I run them at 32 psi and my mpg avg is 15.5

Edit: just noticed you mentioned 265's i have 285/70/17 on mine so I doubt you'll notice any negatives with a 265

Knew a girl that had the wild peaks on her 2 1/2" lifted Chevy Trailblazer, said the worst tire ever owned. No traction in any condition, wore down fast.

You seriously trust her? with what she said on the tires? For all we know she probably didnt know what brand they are.. lol.. Or understand how traction works..

Just put stock size, P rated AT3Ws on my 2016 SR5. They look awesome and are just a notch louder than the Bridgestone duelers they replaced. Have a little steering wheel shimmy but that was there before the falkens, maybe I'll take it back to DT for yet another road force balance. The best part was that DT gave me $80 per tire for the duelers which had around 14K miles on them.

I'm picking the 285/70s next week to pair up with my SCS SR8. I'll post some pics once it's mounted.

I'm wondering if a set in 265/70-R17 would be quieter that a larger version. My concern is whether getting rid of a nice set of Michelin's for the wow factor would be foolish.

Yeah Falken is good for the snow versus KO2, I have friends who run falkens and they are snow rated tire even in deep tire.

Not sure what a 'dueler' is, but all stock for the time being.

I put stock size on my stock SR5, haven't noticed any rubbing.
