New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

Not sure if this was covered but what PSI are you running these 285 tires at? I know they rated for 51 psi as per the tire wall but as per the vehicle rating on the door frame they list the 265's ar 32 psi and is what they were inflated to. I feel them to be on the low side. They actually kinda look on the low side as well.

I've spoken with numerous guys who have 285s on stock height trucks and typically the fender line mod is all you need to do. I'm going to crawl under there later today and take a peek at what it could possibly be.

At full lock with brand new tires on leveled ground, it slightly touches the driver side body mount. I have not had issues with reversing out of driveways but I'm rarely full lock. 2016 stock SR5 P285/70R17 with FN FX Pro wheels. I expect some rub but street driving has not been an issue.

Ok, that's helpful to hear. I plan to get some wider and more aggressive wheels this fall, so i know that'll help clear the strut perch, but may cause other rubbing issues lol. I need to buy a lift first tho, obviously that'll help a ton.

read this, and also remember the factory tires are de-rated 10% because they are passenger tires on a truck

Tire pressure vs load rating

Not sure if this was covered but what PSI are you running these 285 tires at? That maximum psi is at the max load rating, also printed on the sidewall along with the max pressure. If the wheels, are E or LT rated, they are probably rated for more load per wheel than the T4R weighs per wheel. That label on the door applies to the original tires which were C or P rated with a lower max load rating. The original 2657017 C or P rated tire has a lower max pressure and load rating than a 2857017 E rated tire. You can easily check this for any brand by looking on line under the specs for different tire sizes and ratings.

You can run the E or LT rated tires at max pressure but the tire will be hard and so will the ride. You have to experiment a little to find the optimum tire shape, roll on turning and ride comfort level. If you're going to carry a lot of weight on a trip you may want to go closer to the max rating. For daily driving you would probably find less pressure gives a better ride. Maybe start at 40 psi and go from there.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll play around with the the psi once I get out of work. So as of now, the tire pressure light won't kick on till tires pressure drops under 32 psi or so? If I feel 40 psi is optimal for my ride, I'll have to get the TPMS calibrated for 40 psi so I get that warning?

Local tire shop matched if not beat any online price I could find ...got them ordered, delivered, and installed in 24hrs..wifeys kid hauler looks so much better now..

First beach trip with the falkens, spent the day at OBX. Went up to Corolla beach and had no issues whatsoever out on the sand.

Just got P285/70/17 installed. No lift, just moved the fender liner forward, trimmed the bumper, and took a heat gun to the rear of the fender liner. I'm not running mud flaps.

Without the mods, there was a lot of rubbing when turning, especially in reverse. That being said, that may be due to the aftermarket wheel offset. Now there is no rubbing with normal driving, but an occasional scuff when parking.

Very happy with the tire so far! Much quieter than the worn duratracs I was running, and the wider tire looks good. I wasn't sold on how the sidewall looked based on internet photos, but like others have said, they look better in person.

I commute 70 miles a day, so I'll report in on gas mileage changes.

I really appreciate responding. Do you have pictures? Do you feel if you had any type of lift you would have had to do any of these mods? I'm very handy and have no problems doing these mods but I'd like to avoid it. I have the Bilstein all around set at 1.75 in the front and 1" cornfeds spacers in the rear. I just got the FN wheels this afternoon. I'll let you know how things go on Tuesday once I put everything on. You might want to go with my set up, real affordable and wasn't hard to install even with KDSS.

You installed the 5100's yourself? Not sure I would want to tackle the install myself. I am still on a fence about installing them even know I have them already? I was thinking 1.75/1.0 spacer, not sure how the ride will be.

I did the install myself. It really wasnt too hard at all. Could have knocked it out in an afternoon but I decided to paint the coil covers and springs red to add detail which ended up being a 2 day project due to dry time. I think for the money, you can't beat this upgrade. For about 500.00 you are getting a leveled ride with a lift as well as better shocks than stock.

Nice! Yeah, I am most likely going to have to take mine somewhere to do it (not looking forward to that) but i have bought them. I am second guessing and thinking of going with a top spacer now (worried about the ride quality). Your rig really looks good.

If you understand mechanics and worked on suspensions before, you be fine assuming you have the right tools. If not, then I guess it's best taking it in. If you go 1.75, and don't want to spend more money on springs, do like I did and get the cornfed rear spacers. You like the ride and the Wildpeak tire combo.

On a side note, what 4300 Hids did you install? Is the light quality that much better? Output? Or it really just a better look for the vehicle?

I really like these. I think the P rated 285 is calling my name but I air down to about 20psi and am a little weary about doing that on this tire. I haven't aired down a P rate tire before. Anyone with the P rated 285 want to ease my mind?

I do, but i don't really have the place to do it or all the tools to do it (sucks lol). I would get the cornfed spacers for sure for the rear I believe. Good quality ride afterwards would make me happy when all is said and done...

I got the ones from XenonDepot with Phillips bulbs, they are actually awesome, it is better quality and they really light up the road, I have an Acura TL and it is comparable which was what I was after. I could not stand the stock lights and I am getting older and require more light. It is a night and day difference, pun intended. I am very happy with them.

I think I read in here where someone has been airing down on these tires to 20 psi with no issues.
