Trail Control is Ford's answer to Toyota's Crawl Control. It also has select terrain like Toyota and Chevy has. Didn't hear him say anything about locking diffs. Didn't notice much articulation at 1:50.

Also a 2.3 liter turbo with 310 ft. lbs of torque and 270 hp. 10 speed transmission. 22 overall MPG and 24 overall on 4x4.

Backseat looks very small.

I hear the loaded one will retail for about 40k.

Haven't checked out the Jeep Gladiator yet.

Best thing Ford ever did was circle the problem and highlight it in blue:

It costs the same as an F150... not sure how many customers who are looking at a Taco really even bother cross shopping with Chevy and Ford.

Exactly. New Ranger has the same problem as the old Ranger. Very similar pricing to the full size. I'd rather tow/haul with a full size, especially at a similar price point.

There is an fx4 package that has a rear locker available.

It will probably be made worse with the dealers trying to offload the much more popular full size F150 while having the balls to charge MSRP or even put on ADM on the shiny Ranger to the point where you can get a much bigger truck for much less...

The same way Toyota and Subaru dealers ruined the 86.
 
Sorry, but my brother's Raptor disastrous 6 months ownership (so far) has been riddled with 2 major issues that crippled his NAVI/BT and his 4wd system. Still in shop at this time...going on 2 weeks waiting for parts due to backordered. No rental car during this time because dealer ran out of rental cars (because of so many issues with other cars).

Screw that.

Sorry for your brother but IMO, the more pickups that are sidelined the better. Way too many yahoos are driving them like sports cars at stupid speeds on highways now more than I ever recall.

Have him track/log every problem. Include number of days in the shop, who he talked to and when. Very handy in case of Lemon Law.

Based solely on MSRP doesn't a Ranger max at $42k? but F150 max at something ridiculous like $75+k... Anyhow I know they discount these things a ton but Crew Cab to Crew Cab around here you can't find them at comparable pricing for something that has the same options etc...

Side note : Happy that at least these mid sizers have some gusto for towing. Pleasantly surprised by this and the Jeep Gladiator specs. Though resale and reliability probably not stellar
 
Taco has better articulation, ground clearance, and crawl control works better than Ford's Trail Control. Ford faster than the Taco and more comfortable with better headroom. Of course the Taco holds its value and will be more reliable.

If you compare similar cab configuration, trim level, options had, etc. the MSRP gap seems to be about $10,000 between F150 and the Ranger. Of course, at first they won't be making deals on the Ranger anywhere near the discounts they take off the F150, so prices will likely be similar.

I'm sure once demand cools off they will start dealing out incentives and discounts on the Ranger and that gap will widen again. Look at the Chevy Colorado...they discount those like crazy. I've seen new crew cab Z-71's with leather, Bose, etc. sell for around $30,000 vs. their MSRP of around $40,000

Not sure if true...but according to MT article, this new Ranger is based on 2011 platform used in other countries. IF true, then this explains the shitty and clumsy ride/handling. So, it is not even a new design.
