Hey guys, my name is Blake and I am looking forward to all the info and advice... I just moved out here about a year ago from Az and have yet been able to go trailing as my front diff went ka pooey and when i bought a used one i didnt check the ratio and ...well.. UGGHHH.. I have 4.30 stock gears and the one I got has 4.56.. luckily I only had to put it in 4hi once to notice the diff.... lol.. so I have been having to wait on the swap again for reasons of shoulder surgery and we all know the front dif is a bear to R&R....
anyways.. Glad to be here

find a 4.56 to put in the rear! So where did you move to? 2nd gens can be a fun platform to build on, just make sure that 3.0 is in tip top shape. A well running 3/slo is a good engine.

uggghhh. after removing the front diff and getting ready to travel an hour and half I thought maybe lets pull the cover and make sure.... what a good idea... 4.10 i counted the pinion 3 times to be sure...lol.. cause a 4.56 is 41 teeth on 9 teeth and the 4.10 is 41 on 10.... but yep 4.1 ... and I know mine is 4.30 cause the ring has it stamped and the count is right (43 and 10) but now I have lucked out nd bought a (stole really) a rolled over 92 runner with 134k on it and all mechanically sound runs AWESOME and frickin drives!.... good original alloys with tires a killer young motor 5spd 4.30 ratios interior (been raining like hell hope its ok.. should be) I mean it drives around the yard no problems no stutter no smoke (which i thought after a roll over for sure it would smoke but she landed on her wheels... noone hurt either amazing.
anyways...... fella wont trade even up a 4.1 for a 4.56 as well.. you know, the 4.56 is alot rarer than the 4.10 and the 4.30.
my dilemma now is whether to swap engines and sell mine at 239k or sell the donor at 134k... mine runs tip top and the swap is a bear, at least the tranny part.. guess i could pull the clip off and do the whole mess at once.
When I changed the clutch I had to use almost 4 feet of extension on the ratchet to get to the top bell housing bolts.. damned exh crossover...
HOW CAN A MAN LOVE SUCH A MESS! lol.. but me do love me toy!
