Hello, my name is Alex. I would like to preface my introduction by thanking members of this site for sharing their many years of experience and their knowledge on Toyota's. It sure makes things easier for everyone. Anyways, I live in Norman, Oklahoma. I have a 1970 FJ40 that has been mine for the last 8 years. I recently decided I would like to take it a little easier on the 40, and I have always wanted a 1st gen 4Runner. So about 7 months ago I acquired a 1988 4Runner from a gentleman down in Ada, OK. I have always done all of the work on the FJ40, and I decided this time around I wanted something with a lot of the large items already finished, so that I could just clean it up, add some stuff, make it reliable, and take it wheeling. I was lucky enough to find exactly what I was looking for.
Some things it had done to it:
Solid Axle swap
All-Pro Hi steer
Exo-cage that allows removal of the hard top.
37" Iroks on Wagon Wheels
5.29 gears with Aussie front and rear
A340H Auto
Rebuilt 22re
Longfields
What I have done since I bought it:
Rebuilt the rear 3rd with new 5.29 R&P and bearings
New Koyo bearings for the rear axle, New axle seals/O-ring
Put on Rear V6 4runner disc brakes
1" bore Master Cylinder
Ditched the Superwinch manual hubs for Aisins
Put Rory's Rail shifter on it (RaDesigns)
4 new FJ80 TRE's for the Hi Steer
Replaced all of the vacuum lines in the engine bay
New AFM
New Ignition Coil
New Plug Wires
New 02 Sensor
Made my own solid transmission mount
New Superwinch Tigershark 9500 (has been a very good winch)
Rebuilt front U-joints
Fixed rear power window
Add LED's here and there
I'm sure I have forgot a thing here or there.. But that pretty well covers it.
The rig runs awesome now, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it just about anywhere. It's been a blast and has lived up to its expectations, plus some. I have quite a few plans for it, and look forward to learning more about it.
Here are some pics of the rig.
Haulin the dirtbike around.

Stretching her legs.

At the river.

Here is the rail shifter, converter lockup, manual/auto switch, and fuel pump switch.

Rebulding the rear axle/3rd and adding disc brakes.

Playing in the snow.

All new vacuum lines (They look excessively bright here for some reason).

And here is the old girl.

Thanks for looking!
