Hey Folks,

Long time LandCruiser owner here but will be making the switch to a Hilux Surf over the next few months. Ah..change is good I guess and I could always go back to a 70 series at any time.
So, I picked up a 98 Surf with only 50,000kms and in fantastic shape with most of the goodies already on it but never offroaded apparently. Actually I will be doing a de-build on it as I think it's way over the top as is. With a 2.5 inch suspension and 4 inch body lift it's a little too much.
I'm planning on pulling the body lift out, go down to 285's and losing the over fenders and a new coat of thundercloud grey or beige mica....as a tribute to my outgoing LC.

I'm glad to be on board and look forward to spending a lot of time learning the ins and out of these gassers. I've been diesel for the past 20 years...

I was thinking of keeping a bit of body lift but still on the fence. The flares are going too, although I know they are quite pricey aftermarket items. I might be able to sell them sometime later. Can't wait to get started on this new project.

Welcome! Definitely get rid of that body lift... 4"? Wayyy too much lol you'll be good running the same tires and wheels just on the suspension lift.
Jealous of your rear surf hatch btw

I think I will start a "De-build" thread once we finalize exactly what's staying and going. Something different than the usual build up process.
