New guy need some advice

Hey all! I'm about to pick up a buddies old 4 runner and had some questions.. It needs a new computer.. the last one got fried due to a short with the battery and has set for about a year. It has around 230k on it. I know nothing about these and will read through faq. I was wondering if it's worth looking into for that mileage and how the reliability on these are? I'm gonna pick up for only a couple hundred bucks due to it needing moved now. Thank you!

EDIT: Just saw it at the end of your post. I'd look at it. See if it's not a fuse that needs to be replaced instead of the ECU being bad.

Yes it's worth it. Ecuador can be found on ebay pretty reasonably priced. Just make sure it's an exact match, year engine trans. But like Robb said, it could also be a fuse or battery issue. Even if you just turn around and sell it you stand to make some good money on the deal.

Yeah I say go for it. 230k is chump change with these trucks. About to roll my 300k here soon. I agree on checking the fuses first.
