Ah...now I remember why I ruled these out. You could have gotten the tried and true Duratracs for that price. I just bought 285 duratracs and had them mounted and balanced for $1132. $120 in rebates from Goodyear and another $40 through my work....$972 respectively. 265s would have been $75-$100 less....

Where did you have mounted? I just looked on walmarts website and they are selling the tires for $170 each ($680 for 4 tires). Just wondering how you got to almost $900...?

That being said, they do look pretty darn good!

The C load version are $170.00, the E are $200.00, thats Pa./Md. pricing.

These tires look good. I'm going to have to check these out when I get sick of my Dunlops....wait I was sick of them the day I bought it. Thanks for the tire info. Give us an update when you get more miles and get a chance to take them offroad

I'm not a fan Wally World specific items, or Wally World in general. But I do like the look of the Authority tires.

Would these be quieter than Duratracs on the highway, since the tread / lugs are more closely spaced?

I've also got to give the Duratracs props, they performed like no other tire I've owned this last winter!

I just got back from a cold and wet camping trip and I thought I would offer up a bit more info. on the new tires. I have found that the best air pressure for the tire is 40psi and I have not seen a drop in MPG. We did some easy trail riding through the mountains, nothing crazy just muddy fire-roads. The tires worked great in the mud and I felt very confident with the new tires. I was not mud-bogging or anything, but they cleaned out nice.
The tires also did great on the wet highway, no signs of hydroplaning and they felt more sure footed than my old Destinations.

so what is the current state of Green Ridge State Forest as far as trail riding? I may be heading out that way in June and was wondering what your recent experience there was. thanks.

The trails were muddy, which made most of the fireroads fun to drive on, as you know, the established ORV trails are closed, but they are conducting a study to open new ORV trails.
I will be up there for a few weekends in June to do some Smallmouth fishing
on the Potomac, I will be camping at Little Orleans Campground, I might see you up there.

How was the highway noise, especially compared to your previous Destinations? And were they the same size?

well how about that - a friend of mine who now lives in Montana is coming home for a bachelor party the weekend of June 8, and guys will be camping at Little Orleans. A bunch of guys will be fishing during the day, but I had hoped to ride some trails too.

They look generally about as aggressive as duratrac to me, especially in the shoulder.

Not even close, in my opinion.

This looks like a new AT tire were as the duratrac is a hybrid MT/AT.

I have these on my 3rd gen and am really liking them. Look sweet, good price, and really deep tread. Like them a lot more than my BFG All Terrains I had before.

I had a travel trailer on a permanent site for about 17 years at the campground, we still go up 4-5 times a year, nice place and good people.

If I am up that way and I see your truck I will stop by and say hello.

I have a few miles on the tires now and I really like them, they are a little louder than the Destinations, which were very quiet. The noise is not bad at all and the tire rides smooth for an E load tire. My Destinations were a 275 and these are 265.

Just an update on the tires... I now have about 12,000 miles on the tires and they show very little wear, they are also still pretty quiet. They have stayed balanced and do not shimmy or shake; I hope GY keeps making this tire and they also keep the cost down.

I will buy another set when they wear out!

I had these tires on my Land Rover Discovery and I wasn't impressed with them. They were very noisy, didn't balance well and were decent off road.

So far I have not had a problem with balancing or noise, I am actually pretty impressed on how quiet they are for an almost MT tire, they do make some noise, but they are way more aggressive than most other AT tires, so a little noise is to be expected. They are great off road and in the snow.

I had a set of these on one of my last 4Runners, and I was quite impressed with them. I also bought them from Walmart (it might actually be exclusive to them), and I believe the price was $158 for a 31x15 back then. They did very well both on and off road, with lots of grip in dirt, mud, and snow, and reasonably quiet on the road. I didn't have them for the life of the tire (sold the truck with them on it), so I don't know about long-term durability or changes in traction/noise.
