New key advice

My runner came with one key and fob. I found a fob for cheap but I'm a bit confused on the key. Should I get a master key or sub key? I want to get the OEM Toyota key from ebay and the sub key seems to be cheaper. Does it make a difference which one I get?

Just get a master key off ebay then have it cut I did this with my 03 and it worked just fine and I am in the same boat as you with my 05 and I am getting 2 keys and 2 fobs so I will be good to go.

Is your key black or gray? If it is black then it's the master key, and there should be no problem having another key made. If it is gray then it is a valet key, and it might get a bit more complicated, although still possible. This thread might help.

Yes, that's correct. At the very least you should get a second master key in case you lose the one you have. It's up to you whether you get a valet key, if you might loan or leave your car with someone you don't trust then get one, as this key is harder to duplicate. The valet key will also not open the glove box.

I don't need a valet key so that's out. I ordered an OEM master key from fleabay with a new remote so I'll have a spare set.
