New KYB Struts Plus & Daystar 1" Kit=5" lift?!

I just got done overhauling my whole front end (new LCAs, UCAs, TREs, struts & Daystar 1"kit) and my measurement went from 33.25 to 38. Is this normal? I know its going to settle after I drive it a while. It has 144k on it and what looked like original struts. Is it possible it was sagging that much? Or could I have possibly f*$#%d something up?

I was going to do the same exact thing when I installed the KYB shock/strut assemblies. I ended up not doing the Daystar kit because when I compared the oem assembly with the KYB assembly, the KYB springs were about 1 1/2 inch taller that the oems so I did not install the spacers. I have the measurements at home and I will send to you later.

I just bought the KYB quick struts with springs and LCA's. I currently have the DS spacers on the stock struts.

I'd rather not disassemble/reassemble the suspension twice when I install the new stuff.

When I did mine on a 2007 I also purchased the KYB quick struts, the part number was the same for the fj cruiser as well, not sure if that has anything to do with it? I was going to do the daystar leveling kit but decided against it and I'm glad I did as I think it would have been nose high.

Im going to look into this. The struts I got are the SR4131 & SR4130

Those are the same part numbers that I got. I purchased mine from rockauto.

Just checked KYBs site, and they say that the SR4130 & SR4131 fit the 03-09 4Runner, the 07-09 FJ Cruiser and 05-07 Tacoma

When I bought them, AutoAnything and Amazon both said they were a direct fit for my 05 4Runner. I honestly never thought to measure them like MDurbs did (learning experience for future). I still have new shocks, springs and spacers for the rear, so Id imagine it will all level out hopefully. My concern though now is if Im going to have any issues with the new CVs and UCAs if the front end ends up being higher than predicted.

KYBs site says the length of the SR4130 & SR4131is 29". I cant find anything online about the length of the OEM. All the Toyota dealers have the diagrams of individual parts of the strut assembly, but not of the overall assembled length

Weird how they use the same part numbers for all three trucks. If your rear end is stock height, its like getting a front end leveling kit when you may not have wanted that.

Yea, right now my front end is about 2" higher than the rear. Hopefully the new suspension parts and spacer for the rear will correct that

Make sure you torque down everything with the vehicle on the ground not suspended in the air.

Did that too. Hand tightened the LCA, UCA, and shock bolts. Lowered the truck, then torqued them on the ground. The only things I torqued in the air were the steering knuckle to UCA, steering knuckle to LCA, and the brake caliper. Axle nuts were torqued when truck was on the ground as well

Found some helpful info on the forum, both links are below. The first link is an identical set up as what I have. Also seems another poster in the thread stated a 2" from the KYBs alone. Add on the 2" from the DS kit, and its close to where Im at. Guessing it will settle over time

Ok, I just checked the measurements that I took before and after KYB installation. From fender to the center of the front hub: Before 18 3/4 on both sides and the after was 20 1/2 on both sides. I just remeasured and I am still at 20 1/2 on both sides. No settling after about 5000 miles.

Thanks for the follow up. I just got it back from getting aligned and new wheels/tires put on, so Ill need to take a measurement.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I won't be re-installing my DS 2" spacers with these struts. That would put me at around 4" and that is dangerous territory for the CV's, right?

Not 5” for me

I can say for certain I didn’t get 5” over the saggy stock height with this configuration. Maybe 3.5” that has settled over time.

Did you have any fitment issues in the rear with the KYB shocks and the 1.5 spacer?
