New KYB Struts Plus & Daystar 1" Kit=5" lift?!

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I won't be re-installing my DS 2" spacers with these struts. That would put me at around 4" and that is dangerous territory for the CV's, right?

I think that is asking for trouble for the CVs and probably want to consider a diff drop going that high. I would defer to the experts on this question though.

Did you have any fitment issues in the rear with the KYB shocks and the 1.5 spacer?

No issues in the rear. Followed a write up on here and it all went smoothly after I cut off the tops of the old shocks.

Thought I’d update this thread. The KYB struts I received are the same exact length as my OEM struts.

Thanks! I wish I wouldve done that when I did mine. My front is still high, but the CVs are at an ok angle and the TREs are fine. Im guessing my front end was just sagging real bad to begin with.

them coils are probably closer to the people who did the tacoma swap. they have more coils from what i have seen compared to stock 4runner.
maybe you didnt expect the lift since the original suspension is done.
i was like that too with the worn x reas. didnt expect to get alot of lift at 0.85 with fj moog springs.



remember to count the coils, the one with the extra should go on the driver side.

I think it looks perfect, with the 1" spacer front and 1.5" spacer in the rear.

Just concerned that maybe KYB changed the spring rate recently to make the truck sit higher.

i just did all 4 KYB shocks on my 08 sport, for the first couple hundred miles there was about a 2.5" lift in the front, that has settled to about a 1.75-2" lift measured from the ground up to bottom of fender centered on the wheel. it had a worn out xreas so im not sure how much higher than stock it is but sits close to level now with no spacers.

KYB says the springs & shock valving are about 10% stiffer than stock, so far im happy with the ride & small lift of the front. 265/70 tires.

I too think my XREAS shocks are blown, as my front sits pretty low right now. Ready for this upgrade.

you are welcome.

my xreas shocks werent blown or leaking, just worn out at ~140k miles & the springs are what were sagging to make the front sit lower. heres a pic a couple days before installing the KYB's, same tires but you can tell the front was much lower, after about 4 months & ~1500 miles they have settled at what you see in the above pic, its not level but the front is much closer to the rear & for not using spacers or spending a lot more on billsteins im very happy with the ride & stance.

I was going to do the same exact thing when I installed the KYB shock/strut assemblies. I ended up not doing the Daystar kit because when I compared the oem assembly with the KYB assembly, the KYB springs were about 1 1/2 inch taller that the oems so I did not install the spacers. I have the measurements at home and I will send to you later.

Can you send me the specs for this as well. I am looking at using KYB complete struts also. I'll be replacing the rear shocks as well and was looking to lift it 2-3 inches. Want to make sure i'm not nose high, or 5+ like previous post mentioned they ended up with.

From fender to the center of the front hub: Before 18 3/4 on both sides and the after was 20 1/2 on both sides.
