New lift kit. Opinions

New lift installed today. Had a 2.5 inch front and 2 inch rear daystar kit installed with new procomp 3000 shocks in the rear. What do you all think? I'm running 265/75/26 coopers which where on previously. I wanted to see your oppinions of the look? I am debating if the front end is to high and am wondering if it is actually a 3 inch front/2.5 rear kit. The front just seems high for 2.5 based on previous 2.5 kits I've had on older tacomas in the past. I was initially hoping for just a nice small lift with the front level to the back. Mainly to keep from the tires looking to small. I really don't want to go to 33,s although it would look bad ass due to highway communiting mileage loss. I noticed after I hit got it home and started looking at it the front seemed alot higher than the back, I took a tape to it and from the top of the tire to the fencer is 7 3/4 inch front and 6 inch back. Almost 2 inches. I don'tind allitle taller front end and used to the level look. I left the stock springs in the rear. The front is allitle higher than I like although maybe it could grow on me. Do you guys know if its common to have a 1 3/4 lower rear and if its a matter of needing longer coils etc? I'm debating either having a 2 inch spacer swapped out in front which would still leave the front 3/4 higher or doing something with the rear to get steady another inch. To level it. I see allot of lifted trucks in Cali with the front higher but here in utah not as common. I had the whole kit with shocks installed for 450 but debating if I should run with it or if you guys have recommendations. Thx

I see allot of lifted trucks in Cali with the front higher but here in utah not as common.

That's the "cali squat". It's just posers and wanna-be's trying to make their truck look more like a Baja racer or prerunner. High power baja trucks with super flexy long travelling suspensions squat at the back when they're accelerating, which is the look the posers are going for. First they started adding long-travel to the front of their trucks, which lifted and widened the front, and they'd leave the rear axle stock. Now they're using wheel and coil spacers to lift and widen the front and actually lowering the rear, going beyond any semblance of adding functionality, just to look good cruising the mall. You can lump the cali squat in with lowriders, "stanced" imports, brodozers, those silly hawaiian bubble tire trucks - just dorks trying to be cool without the balls to use their car or truck like the ones they're trying to emulate.

I think your truck looks too high for those 265s, and I think it looks nose heavy with the smoked lights and that brushguard against the chrome bumper and silver cladding. The wheels clash too. The whole thing looks like the aftermath of a modding orgy, like you're adding bling for bling's sake without consideration of function, or even whether your mods will work with eachother to generate a cohesive look. If you have to mod for form instead of function, I think you should at least come up with a plan for what you want the truck to look like and work towards that, instead of just randomly throwing stuff on there because you can. That's my opinion. :)

Might just have saggy coils in the rear.

Agree with KidV on basically everything else.

IMO Black accents are a no-go on the white/silver combination, they just look out of place.

And Blacked out lights never look good, on anything.

Your 265's will be fine, level out the rearend or +1 inch. I agree that the smoked out lights look a bit over the top on your blacked out front end.

You have a tough color scheme to work with, but keep messing with it and have fun. Everyone has different tastes.

Appreciate the feedback! I was thinking of having a smaller spacer placed in the front so the front wasn't so high. Being the rear is 1 3/4 inch lower even if I go down by an inch on the front the back will still sit 3/4 inch lower. Should I go this rought or just have him put a 1.5 inch front spacer in to level everything out. I think my rear coils are fine as they where replaced under recall several years ago

If you are worried about mpg, bring the front down and lift the back up some. Toytec sells 1/4 nylon spacers for the rear that seemed to do wonders for my rearend leveling. Plus, if you were going for the slight lift to keep your tires from looking too small, you will want to lose some front end height.

Good luck,

Took off headligh blackouts

Think it did look allure overdone with the smoked lights. I don't agree with the prev post abought black clashing with the grey and white. Have received quite a few compliments so I know at least some are into the mod of orgy look! Anyhow here's a pic with them removed.

Which lift kit from daystar did you buy? Because for the 3rd gen 4runner daystar sells this 2WD/4WD 2.5" Complete Lift Kit which is a 2.5" lift kit and I've seen a bunch of members run this and they are level front to rear. It's weird you got a 2.5" front 2" rear...I've never seen anybody run that combo.

If I were you I would definitely level out the truck, because with the rear end sagging that much it just looks like an old truck with saggy rear springs. Leave the front where it's at and just swap out that rear spacer with this rear spacer 2.5" Rear Coil Spacer Kit or for only $30 more you could get some OME 890 coils and be close to level. Right now it just seems the front is too much lift because the rear is so low...I think when you raise the rear you'll be much happier with the overall appearance because it will be balanced out. Good luck

I agree with you entirely. I had a 1999 tacoma with a 2.5 inch kit that was perfectly level. Why would you do a higher front puck than the back when 4runners usually sit lower in rear? I'm not sure I want to raise the back more as the tires look small at the 3 inch height. With the rear 1 3/4 lower should If I put a 1 inch smaller spacer up front the rear will still sit 3/4 lower. Should I go with a 1.5 inch spacer up front? Seems that would be the closest to level. Any suggestions? The back has a 2 inch spacer currently and I really don't want to spend more time and money swapping that out or going to longer springs.

Great looking 4runner! I actually like the look of tinted lights...law enforcement may not like it as much though. As far as lift options go, this is what i would recommend for the front for that sized tire:

http://daystarweb.com/productdetail.php?productID=536

This kit works well with a 2" lift in the rear. Even though it's only an inch thick, it adds about 1.5" in reality. I like the rear to be a little higher than the front for when i pull trailers. You'll have to pull those Daystar spacers out but this kit is super easy to install, just screw the adaptors over the existing strut studs...can be done at home without a spring compressor on a stock setup (you'll have to remove your longer studs if you installed them). You can run a 265/75R16 tire without a lift (in most cases) so a 1" spacer is all you need...and this will keep your cv axles at a lower angle too

I must admit, this 4runner looks pretty badass with the white and silver trim and the silver Tacoma wheels...gotta love how we can interchange rims with Tacomas and such
