New Lift Won't Fit!!!

After months of waiting on backordered Bilsteins, they finally came in.

Tundra Adjustable Bilsteins (5 settings of adjustment) paired with Toytec/Eibach coils (112-620 Toytec/Eibach front coil lift springs for 4runner).

Worked today on removing factory coils/shocks, compressed, and reused top parts with new shocks and coils.

i set the shocks to the center perch (3rd from the bottom--right in the middle). i bolted in the top 3 studs, and then used the bottle jack method on the upper a-arm to get it to droop to fit the new shock.

here's where i'm at:

i can't compress the upper a-arm any further or it makes contact with the coil and acutally prevents it from going in where it should

and the bottom of the shock is still this far away:

i have tried prying with a crow bar, jacking up under the shock to get it to compress up and in, and nothing works!

what are my options???

please help!

No one runs those shocks on the middle perch, paired with eibach springs unless they wanna blow out a shock prematurely and replace cvs more often. Lower them to the first or second perch and they should fit. I have the same set up.
 
when i did mine, i unbolted the lower ball joint and set it in. then used a jack to compress and reattach the lbj.
 
9/10 people run them on the lowest clip for 3" of lift. Any clip higher than that you're asking for trouble.

Toytec offers a 5100 112-620 package with a aluminum spacer on top ,whats the difference in running one clip up ? Bottom clip gives 2 1/2" of lift paired with tundra specific bilsteins
 
Too high. I run the second clip level with full armor and bumpers and get 3" of lift. I would run them on the bottom perch for an un-armored truck.

To clear up mis-info. You can run Toytec eibach coils on the second perch of the TUNDRA billies with no ill effects. This perch is equivalent of the first perch on the Tacoma billies.

Okay, so going down one perch should fit in no prob? I really don't want to start taking apart a-arms and ball joints.
 
1. The extended length of the shock is the same regardless of setting/spring.

2. I have this exact setup and have it set on 2nd perch. I'm right at 3". Also, the second perch on tundras 5100s is the same as the first perch on tacoma 5100s.

3. Make sure the sway bar is disconnected, some times you have to loosen the lower control arm.

just undo the 4 bolts. i have done this idk how many time, and yeah its still a little bit of a trick but very doable. -make sure to not just smack that lower strut bolt through, but rather turn it as you are driving it through -ie use a shallow socket and a impact or air ratchet if you have one and use that to spin it as you put pressure against it and that should drive the bolt through without marring up the threads. i put the bolt in from the front and go front to back with it, but thats me

awesome. thank you for the pointers! are you running your shocks on the 3rd perch? i'm really torn on what perch to use.

i'm running 8/8.5 wraps in the back, and i really want to bring the front up close to it (with the back just a little higher). i don't have armor or bumpers or a winch, so i'm really wondering if the 2nd perch would give me enough lift. i really don't want to do this twice.

lol. i just jacked it up, removed the wheels, and let it droop to full extension. when i unbolted everything (top three nuts and bottom strut bolt), it just slipped right out. should it not have? :)

do not run the 3rd perch, i blew out my struts doing this in very little time. i am currently on the bottom perch and have a top hat/plate spacer. id say at most doing the 2nd perch but that will be a full 3" and maybe then some like 3.25" but not much more if any. the third setting is just way too much.

your rig looks perfect. it's actually one that really gave me the bug to start modding. i can't believe yours is only on the first perch. it looks so high--esp. with your gear.

i'm glad i can learn from your blown struts so i don't have to repeat that. i had been torn between 2nd and 3rd perch. now i'm torn between 1st and 2nd. lol

well if looks only mattered lol its got some things that still need attention and work... but slowly its getting there. -my rig started off bone stock when i got it, minus a brush guard and a set of old junky off road lights.... but thanks for the kind words
 
I'm running the toytec/eibachs and the bilstein 5100s on the 3rd perch and got exactly 4inches of lift out of it and it haven't had any issues at all. It was a complete pain in the ass to get it in to the LBJ but after using an 8 foot cheater bar to pry it down I made it fit but had to have a second set of hands.
