New Limited, TRD or Method Fat Five

I pulled the trigger on a new Limited w 4x4 and 3rd row seats. First things first, those 20” wheels gotta go. I have wheels narrowed down to either the TRD’s in black or the Method Fat Five in black. The 5th Gen Fitment Guide is great but I’m pretty confused about the offset and backspace. I‘d like to run BFG T/A KO 265/70/17. Am I safe to assume the TRD’s with these tires will not rub? The Method's are wider. How does that factor into the backspace and offset. Either way, I want a set of 5. Is there any problem fitting the larger and wider than stock wheel and tire in the spare compartment?

Both look good. The TRD's look like a pain in the ass to clean in the small grooves and spaces.

I own Method NVs and love them but based your choices I'd vote for the TRDs based on style alone.

Did you get it yet? I would ask the dealer to swap for the TRDs if you have not yet. It's a $200 option. I think the TRDs would be easier to sell/trade than the 20" LE rims.

All 3 wheel choices will fit without rubbing. Assuming you are staying with the 17x8s in all models. And all choices will fit in the factory spare location.

I would probably go with the TRD wheel simply because they will be easier to find down the road if you damage one. Most aftermarket wheels like the Method change their design so often and have more limited production that if you need a new wheel in the future you may have to replace the whole set. I see you are buying 5 wheels so this may never be a problem for you. you can use the spare wheel if needed. Do the method wheels use special lug nuts? If so I would rather have common Toyota lug nuts. Some aftermarket wheels require a thin wall socket to remove the lug nuts, not sure about Methods.

Me too! Our 20" wheels/tires have about 500 miles on them. If I can get the wife to buy in I'll start shopping dealers to see if they will swap them. It would be great to have the TRD wheels for most of the time and the Trail wheels for winter tires.

Method wheels are heavy.

Trd's are 24 or 25 lbs

I sold my 20" LE wheels very easily back in 2012, I don't know if that demand is still there but I had a ton of inquiries and got what I thought was an obscene price. Apparently there are folks that don't off road that buy the SR5 and want to waste their money on a wheel with almost no tire options, go figure.

This is something you negotiate with your dealer prior to taking delivery.

DWM do you remember the width and the backspace of those Method Standards? Also is your wife's 4runner lifted?
