Just plug in the OBD connector and give it time to calibrate. Not sure why you would leave it out, instructions say to hook it up.

Because I have an Automatic OBDII reader plugged in. Since the Maestro only needs the one pin I'll try a wire tap.

In case anyone else runs into this, I had great success with this route. I used a red Positap on the green wire behind the ODBII connector, set the Maestro to not auto-disable when detecting a scanner, and now get TPMS info while my Automatic adapter is plugged in.

I finished installing my headunit Sunday with the maestro system. I have retained all of the factory equipment except for the Bluetooth microphone and the AUX jack (this maybe due to the headunit). I thought I'd share my experience since this topic is relatively new. In addition to that I thought I'd gather all the sources I used, to guide people in the future. After doing this install I was pretty amazed by the results. Those infinity kappas in the dash sing like never before.
NOTE: I did not tap into the rear view mirror for the camera. I really don't mind only having it in the mirror. Also I'm not going to run wires if I don't have to.

Picked everything up from Crutchfield except the antenna adapter, because they do not carry them. But after a couple of hiccups, I have nothing but great things to say about Crutchfield. That being say lets move on.
Headunit
I was specifically looking for a double din touch screen unit with SAT Radio Compatibility and HD Radio. I picked this one due to the volume knob and the high preamp voltage. I like the interface alot, its clear and reminds me of the OE unit that was in my BRZ. I must admit the volume knob is pretty pointless. Its covered in that smooth chrome plastic, so its hard to get a hold of. If I had to do it again I'd probably get the pioneer with the bigger screen. The only issue I have is I can't seem to turn the camera interruption off.
Bluetooth Microphone
Since there is no easy way to utilize the factory microphone I installed it in the factory location ie overhead console. To remove the overhead, just remove the 8mm bolts from the sunglass holder and it pops out.

Maestro Module and Toyota Wiring Harness
Wiring up the Maestro Module, even with the Maestro Toyota Specific Wiring Harness, it is a bit complex. The instructions are vague and the connectors aren't marked. The good thing is that the connectors are different so its do-able. There were only a few connectors from the Maestro Toyota Specific Wiring Harness I didn't use. Wiring up the Headunit harness to the Maestro Harness is was pretty self explanatory.
SiriusXM Module and Antenna Adapter
I had a fight with the Antenna Adapter. Whilst trying to put them together in the dash I ended up breaking both the module and adapter. So be careful with that $60 adapter when connecting them.

It has been reviewed before, but the finish isn't wonderful and the color does not match the silver trim pieces nearby. I also had a clip break when removing it. All in all its not bad, it does the job.
How to Remove OEM Headunit
When taking the HVAC controls and side trim pieces out, I found it easier and faster to grab the back of the HVAC control and put it forward. To do this you need to stick hand in the opening that is created above the lid to the storage compartment below the HVAC controls when you open it.
USB Adapter
The was the biggest pain the ass of the whole install. The end in which you connect this adapter to is buried behind the glove box, underneath the farther passenger vent.

Since Party Mode is controlled by the OE headunit, removing it removes the functionality of Party Mode. But with an aftermarket headuint you get better sound and adjustability. So your not really losing anything, except being able to switch the rear door speakers off and drop the resistance to the tailgate speakers so they play louder.

Here comes the question though. So when I was installing the idata link, i bought the STO2 adapters to tie the factory GPS into the kenwood. My problem is, there are 2 "GPS" style connectors. I'm assuming one is for the actual GPS and the other was for the XM satellite radio.
Here are the 2 connectors i'm referencing. The white one goes up towards the vents and goes somewhere up the dash, and the black one is tied into the cluster of factory wires that all hooked into the back of the factory radio. I'm thinking that I tied the GPS wire into the wrong factory one. I tied it into the black one, but seems that might be the XM?
There was only one GPS connector on the Kenwood, so which one of these plugs doesn't get used?

IIRC, one of those adapters is for XM, one is for Kenwood GPS, and one is for Pioneer GPS.
I just moved my Kenwood from my old 2016 SR5 (the one my wife made me sell) to my new 2017 TRD Off Road. The XM adapter worked perfectly in the 2016, but didn't work in the 2017. The factory XM plug actually fits in the Maestro adapter, but I could not get XM signal. I was able to get signal using the antenna supplied in the XM box. So I had to run that antenna to the roof in order to make XM work. Not sure why the factory antenna wouldn't work... especially since it worked in my old 4Runner.

Your question lead to fixing my problem (factory XM antenna not working).
The white plug that goes up towards the vent is the GPS antenna. The black plug that goes down towards the floor is the XM antenna. Both are the same size and shape and the adapters will allow you to plug them into the wrong spots.
I just swapped the two plugs around and now the XM factory antenna and the GPS direction on the Kenwood work. I actually didn't notice the GPS wasn't working before now.

Well that explains why my compass isn't working on the Kenwood head unit (just pointing north the entire time). I'll have to pull the radio out again (which PUFFS) and swap those two around.
So i'm assuming that the XM antenna plug would need to plug into an XM radio adapter since there is no where for the plug to directly plug into the Kenwood head unit?

Yes. The XM antenna plugs into the XM box (I have the SXV300v1 receiver). There's a plug that comes out of that box. It has a round plug and that gets plugged into the kenwood.

Sounds good. I wish I would have asked these questions before i wired everything. Now i gotta pull the radio out and swap that antenna wire around. Would be such a big deal but man it was a pain gettting all those wire behind the dash. I have all the datalink wires and then i have the stinger 9 wire tied into the speaker outs and 2 sets of RCA cables (using all 6 rca outs on kenwood) ran back there as well going to the amps in the back.

I wonder if you could just tap into the other plug where the rear view camera hooks up? Seems like you could and then the headunit would distinguish between the front / rear based on the RCA input it was on

I have a 2016 SR5 with entune and navigation (the standard 8 speakers). I have already changed out all the speakers with the new Alpine R-type and JL 3.5" in the front with the help of the posts on this forum.
So I need help getting down to business with this stuff if you guys might be able to assist me I'd truly appreciate it!
I'm not sure when I'll be installing the head unit but I just picked up a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX. In the future I will be adding a 4 channel amp and mono amp. That should be the easy part for me. The part I need help with is all the different harnesses to purchase to keep all the OEM functionality. I read through this post and I just need your guys' input on whether or not I have everything I need for the install. Thank you!

Yes. This one retains backup camera and steering wheel controls. It does other things too.

Technically, the GPS adapter connects to the Toyota GPS antenna, not the GPS unit. You don't have to use it. You could use the GPS antenna that comes with the head unit. But it's easier and cleaner to just use the existing antenna already wired through the 4Runner. If you want XM, you will need the adapter and a stereo that supports XM. I don't know if the Pioneer has XM built in. My Kenwood does not, so I had to buy an external XM receiver. I didn't have to use the antenna that came with the receiver because the maestro XM plug connects to the one installed in the 4Runner.

Yes. Although that part came with the HRN-RR-TO2 package that I received. Someone else said it didn't come in their package, though. Be safe and buy it. You might end up with 2.

Scosche looks better IMO. But google it and compare for yourself. Everyone has different aesthetic taste.

I wasn't able to keep Aux input and didn't care. My guess would be you could splice some wires and retain it. I am not aware of a plug and play adapter.
