For what it's worth, I've ran these since March 2021. Put almost 25k miles on them since and they seem to wear rather quick compared to others. I got them cheap though ($800 for 5 on ebay) and will likely try to get the same thing when the time comes to replace. 285/70/17, and I do 5 tire rotations every 5k miles with alignments when needed. I can post some pictures if requested.

Good to know. Were yours the P metric or E-Load? That was one of my wonders when I ordered them. The P-metric has a 60k warranty and 12/32 tread depth where as the E-load has a 50k warranty and 15/32. 12/32 is low comparatively.

If I get 40k out of any tire I'm happy, honestly. I usually have an itch to try something new by that point anyway. I'm putting maybe 7500 miles on the 4Runner each year, so 40k miles is a long time.

Mine are the P metrics. After seeing some pics of yours, I may have spoken too soon as for the wear. Some rot from AZ summers and some chewed up areas from wheeling every couple months or so, but not so bad. Really need to stop complaining considering the price I paid.

I have dedicated snows(hakkapelita 9 studded), but between seasons drive on my KO2's in snow and they have been pretty good. debating on these for my next set. Are they better than KO2s? Also considering KM3's for my next 3 season set. I am at 35k on the KO2's right now.

I wonder if they are wearing quicker because they come with 12/32's new. For reference the Wildpeaks come with 17/32's which quite a bit more.

I'm excited to try in a few months. I always had great luck with KO/KO2s in the snow here. They were honestly tough to beat outside of probably a designated snow tire.

Been a month, about 1500 miles, with these and I'm really liking them. Either they quieted down or I got used to them, but I hardly ever notice the road noise anymore. Got a quick run offroad, but it's been so dry here it's tough to gauge any discernable difference in anything compared to my KO2s. Traction was fine on the gravel/dirt roads and light trails. I have towed a few times with them and gotten them in the rain with no issues even when pushing into turns. They are very comfortable on the road and still drive really well. Seem to be wearing fine.

Still only downsides are just from going up in size. Towing was an adventure in the hills going out 80 West through PA towing my enclosed trailer and Yamaha 700 ATV, about 2200lbs total. It did not want to downshift and struggled any second we went up. I'd have to stomp on it to get it to downshift, then it would just hold the gear forever when going back down. These are always wonky on the highway with shifting even when not towing, but it was noticeably different compared to towing with my stock size tires. I'll shift in manually next time. Still rub a little on the body mount and haven't gotten that corrected. MPG is down to about 15.5, but again 1/4 of the miles I've put on have been towing my trailer around. It was fun watching my half a tank go bye bye during my trip.

Still love the look over the 265s and really happy with these tires. I toyed with putting the wheels spacers back on, but don't think I will. I think it looks proportioned well and these kick up way less rocks onto my paint being still in the wheel wells.

Any updates? Time for a new set of 285s and curious if the positive feelings are still holding up as the miles add up. Was settled on trying out either the Recon Grapplers or Toyo AT3s but the price on these are making me curious.

I can't believe you bumped this. I was looking at this thread yesterday because I was going to write a 10k mile review soon. I'm at about 9k now.

I would not hesitate for one second to buy these tires again. The price is just a bonus. They have been some of the best and most comfortable tires I've run with excellent road manners.
- The road noise is there, but it's hardly noticeable anymore.
- They are great in the rain.
- We had a really mild winter here in NJ last year, so only got a few chances to drive in the snow and they did fine. I think KO2s still win there, but not much beats those in snow.
- Offroad leaves me with no complaints as well. I haven't done anything super crazy, but no gripes for what I've put them through. Fire roads and some rocks.
- No balance issues, improper wear, blowouts, flats, or anything. Still drive smooth down the road. I've rotated them once.
- No issues towing with them
- in regards to wear, they have worn. But, I'd need to get a measurement to be sure how much.

Great to hear they're still holding up well in all regards. I've been rocking the 285 P-rated Wildpeak AT3Ws since they came out in 2016 and LOVE the way they look but have been looking at going a little lighter just because (43lbs vs 51lbs) and also these being much cheaper don't hurt ($940 OTD vs $1200 @ DT). As with most AT tire users, I'm 99% on the road so road manners are definitely up there in criteria but looks are a very close 2nd. Lol.

On that note, if I'm being nit-picky, these look slightly more rounded than the squared-edge lug pattern on the Wildpeaks (of which I prefer if I'm being honest) but they still look great from the pictures I've seen and very similar to the Ridge Grapplers. The rounder profile likely contributes to the great turn in mentioned in the reviews too. All these glaring reviews are making it hard to go any other direction.

I will say the local DT tried to steer me away but said that's only based on the fact that they're a smaller company making possible warranty claims and quick replacements due to inventory more challenging than the big guys. But again, all the user reviews from people who've multiple tires are overwhelming impressed. That's enough for me to "roll the dice."

Looking up that tire and weight, you went with P metric? If so, what made you choose that over the LT? I couldn't find any specifics on sidewall thickness for maxxis.

KO2s and these have been my two favorite tires I've ever run between this 4Runner and previous Jeeps, but I'd go with the Maxxis for the road manners and price. These are better road tires by a longshot and it's where I spend 99% of my time, so I'd buy Maxxis again over the KO2s. They are way more comfortable, but BFG also doesn't offer a light duty Load B KO2. The C-Load KO2s were significantly stiffer riding.

I never really had any significant issues with the KO2s in the rain, but the Maxxis do feel more confident. For a range of my AT tire experience, Terra Grapplers go at the absolute bottom, KO2s in the middle to upper tier, and the Maxxis go at the top. I haven't had one slip yet with the Maxxis.

KO2s edged these out in the snow. These were confident, but KO2s always were ridiculously good in the snow. They set the bar IMO.

Road noise is a little bit more on the Maxxis. My KO2s when I swapped them at 10k were still silent. Other vehicles that have them are also always really quiet.

Both have done what I've asked them to offroad, but I'm not too hardcore. I don't think you'd go wrong with either of these.

The savings would come if you went to a P-Metric Maxxis, so yes similar if you are looking for a heavier load. If it were between 285/70 C-Load KO2 or E Maxxis, that would make the decision harder for sure. I'd probably go BFG at that point. Having an E load would take a lot away from the on road manners that I really like with the P-Metric.

Correct, I got the SL load. As for why...weight and reported road manners. This is my best version of being "realistic" with its current use and it being 99% on the road as I just cant bring myself to go any less rugged in looks or ability just in case I need it...and b/c "cool." Lol. I'm also excited to see if the weight reduction is noticeable right away as I cant imagine that much rotating weight, especially the hardest weight to turn given that the tire is so far from the axle, not being an improvement for DD. I'll know more in an hour or so.

I would be curious as to how the weight difference affects your acceleration, handling and mpg. Though moving to an SL would be wishful thinking for me since I only use mine for offroad/camping/hunting etc way off the grid. I will have to stick with E load tires, but still just debating between KO2 and maxxis

It should be very noticeable given it works out to ~8lbs per corner. Maybe less so in MPG (got over-gapped plugs, dirty MAF/TB and dragging calipers on my to-do list that should net a larger change) but I do expect a noticeable difference in steering/starting/stopping. DT is finishing up mine right now so wont be much longer.
