I am so glad this forum is here. I drive a Mini Cooper JCW and an Subaru Outback, both of which have VERY active enthusiast communities. I enjoy participating in mod discussions and picture swaps and look forward to meeting some of you.

In any case, I sold the Subaru and was going to get a lightly used Forester abut always found the off-load ability of the Subarus a bit lacking. I am looking for a civilized off order that can pass as a civilian SUV if needed. Bam! 4Runner came to mind and as I searched and read I became more convinced that this was the car for me.

I've been a good boy and done my reading and was hoping for some experienced voices to chime in on the car I want to buy.

2011 Toyota 4Runner 4WD 4dr V6 SR5 Hillside NJ | Newark Elizabeth Staten Island New Jersey JTEBU5JR2B5076084

low mileage 2011, it was a lease but looks well cared for.

I know the car is reliable but was there any issues with 2011 beyond (hatch rust)?

Is the price, $26,495 in the right ballpark for a clean car with these options? I've shopped Craigslist and found older cars with more mileage for higher selling price.

Keep in mind I am in the New York area and things are a little more expensive here.

I will be modding the car to what I call 'Standard (OEM) on Steroids' but I will leave that for another day.

Thanks in advance for the opinions.

Seems like a good deal. Almost exactly like the truck I purchased last November. I paid about the same, but mine had 48k on the OD (although it already had lift, tires, rack....) It had a solid service history... So it was a perfect deal for me and gave me a head start on the mods I had planned.

I don't know of any issues with the 2011 model year. I was concerned about buying used, but it has been rock solid with no hidden issues. I took the time to check everything over very carefully. I would suggest you do the same.

Thanks

Thanks on the price confirmation. Yeah, I kinda lucked out as it is a trail edition. Will likely start out with wheel mods, tires, slight lift if necessary, roof rack and then front/rear bumper.

Thanks again, will post pics if/when i get it.

Hi jz,

I live in the same area as yourself; have for a very long time and have been completely happy here. The price seems reasonable (to me) but the right price is one that you're willing to pay and can be at peace with! If you like that vehicle, have seen others, and still want that one... what's left to think about??? "I'd like to mention something"...

When I bought my 4Runner back in 2012, I set out to buy a used one; 2010 or 11 with low mileage like 20 or 30 thousand miles but I couldn't find one in Blizzard Pearl. I searched everywhere within my area (up to 50 mile rad) for about three months. At some point I started getting tired... tired of everybody else having a 4runner except me! Then one day coming from my doctors appointment on the bus stop (in the rain), I saw a White (Bliz pearl) 4runner coming up the street, it passed me by as I grabbed a last look and it kept going. That's when I said... "Dang-it, that's it! I'm going straight to the Toyota dealership 'RIGHT NOW' and order my new truck!" I already had all the money; I had saved enough to buy the vehicle "New and in cash" a while ago, but I really thought it 'un-wise' "for me" to buy a new vehicle... I went straight over to the "Hackensack Toyota" dealership near my house. I sat down with a very nice salesman, explained to him what I had been trying to do and asked him to help me locate the truck that I could no longer live with out! He said...NO PROBLEM! Then, I went outside to call my wife and ask her what she thought about me buying a new 4runner instead of a 2010 or '11.

She said..."Greg... you're always saving your money and putting it away... don't you think it's time that you started enjoying your life??" Then she said... "I think you really deserve that 4Runner, you've been wanting one for the longest time..." That's when I said... "THANK YOU BABY"! I ran back inside with a big grin on my face :biggrin1: (I think I hugged the salesman a little bit) sat down in my chair, looked at him and said... "LET'S DO IT"! Hahaha! I left a down payment, signed some papers, shook hands and went home and celebrated with my wife! I've been happy ever since! I almost missed an opportunity of getting the one I really wanted 'second guessing' myself; thank God for my wife(!) You know what I mean jz? Question is do you (and your wife) like this price and this truck? I hope so! If so... GO FOR IT!

Love to see those pix when you get it home! :thumb3::whoo:

If that is a trail, it won't last at that price. Amazing deal for a trail.

I doubt it is a trail as link states sr5. If it is a trail, buy it ASAP for that price.

I was in the same situation ... I was researching for a 2011-2012 used 4runner here in BC, Canada. After few months, I found a used 2012 with 34,000 km. I test drove the car and almost decided to pull the trigger. I found out the dealer had 4 used 4runners in their lot at that time. The sale person was trying all the time to point me out to a 2014 4runner. I did not wanted to look at it ... i had my mind set-up for something different and did not wanted to play their sale games.

Short story ... I left the dealer without buying anything and after one week I called them about 2014 4runner as I had no chance to talk about numbers and mileage. Surprise ... the car had only 6,000km and the final price negotiated by phone saved me over $5,000.00 and had some extras included too. I pulled the trigger and I am very happy with my decision.

Another funny part is that they sold all other used 4 runners in 3 days after I purchased my car. If I was waiting couple more days, today I was still taking a bus. :)
