Just joined after lurking for a bit. I just joined the ranks of 1st gen owners with this 88 4runner.
It is a 3.0 5spd. The engine was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago. It was a big jump for me, i gave up my 74 fj40 for it, but felt like it was good to get the fj to someone that had more time for it. I am currently re-doing a 78 cj7 and the fj would have just sit in the snow another year and rusted a little more, so i figured the 4runner was a good car to move to since it could carry more and i could replace my tj as my daily driver until the cj7 is finished.
I am quite happy with it although i was kind of sad to give up the FJ.
