Just joined today and thought I'd introduce myself and post a few pics of my rig. Members of Yota Tech may recognize me; I'm a member there also.

So does that intake do anything for you? I am thinking about adding one to my truck at some point, but there are a bunch of projects in front of that (SS lift, interior improvements, etc). I am particularly interested in inexpensive mods to improve fuel economy over a stock setup.

The intake did increase my throttle response I believe it added 5-10 hp or so. I'd do the other mods (lift) first and then see if you actually need the additional power.

My question then is, did you get this extra HP at the expense of your mpg? I would be interested in doing some engine intake mods if they did not adversely affect my fuel economy.

An intake or deckplate mod won't hurt MPGs but results of gaining will be minimal. It's a worthy mod but either will be a bit louder at WOT.

Ron said it well: an intake or deckplate will minimally help power. It does effect throttle response, without hurting MPG...if you can keep you foot out of the throttle. Either mod will be much louder than stock at half to full throttle!

nice looking 4R. I have a question about your lift. It looks like after the Land Cruiser springs it doesn't sit level. Does it or is raked like it looks in the photo? Also are they stock springs?

The rears are stock LC coils from the front of a 1995 IIRC. I bought them new and they've sagged about an inch since I installed them. There is some rake, almost too much. I'm looking into a Revtek 3" spacer for the front with a topout to get about 3.25" up front. That will match the 3.5-4" I got in the rear from the LC's.
