New Member - just purchased 2006 Salsa Red SR5 V6

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this forum. I've been visiting and gathering info for about 4 months now and just purchased a 2006 Salsa Red SR5 4WD for the family car. Ended up purchasing from Gloucester Toyota and got the 4R $500 below invoice.

Plan on starting some mods soon as I was a VW nut and modified my Passat Variant. This time around the plan is more for outdoors versus all the performance stuff I had on my Passat.

One question though - does anyone know where I can find an adapter cable for an SMT5600 Smartphone. I want to use my Smartphone as my mp3 player and connect via the jack in the glovebox.

if your smartphone uses a headset style mini jack, you can find those at radioshack. 1/8" to 1/8" mini din on each end.
It works great for my PDA. I listen to lectures that way.

jwyshrek - That's why it took me awhile to purchase. The wife really wanted the Salsa Red and it's hard to find and even harder to get exactly what you want without having to compromise additional options that I didn't need.

I'll get some pics up soon. Try to take 'em this weekend. FYI - I purchased a stereo cable - 1/8" jack on each end and it works great with my Dell PocketPC. I've got a 1gig SD card in there and plenty of tunes now. I've also order the Deluo GPS Lite for Bluetooth GPS capability through the PocketPC and my Smartphone.

Still haven't decided on black or stainless for the bull bar. Hope to make that decision next week.

I have an '05 Sport V8 in white, and I am very happy with the color. I think4Runners look best in white and silver. Given that I have already owned a silver 4Runner, the only other color that I would have considered was the Red Salsa Pearl, but, at least in '05, that color wasn't available in the Sport.

Well, took a surprise trip to the Blue Ridge this weekend to surprise my parents with a visit from their 6 month old granddaughter. The 4R rides awesome on the highway and it's so nice to have all our gear and two dogs in the back with the baby and her stuff in the back seat. I was able to control music with my PocketPC and the mp3 connection in the console box. Then, we did some mountain driving and hiked part of Crabtree Falls. While at dinner later that day, I was joined in the parking lot by an 06 Limited on one side and an older gen 4R on the other. God, I love this truck! Now, need to get with adding the bull bar and some other planned mods. And, here are pics finally:

That is the same cable you would need. Also, you do get a 4CD changer with the nav. It is built into the unit. Just hit the eject button and the screen flips out so you can load the CD's.

I called my salesman, and he didn't realize the CD player on the 06 Nav unit was a changer. It sure was a pleasant suprise to find out the unit will play 4-CDs. I may not have to buy an MP3 player after all!
