Just wanted to officially say hello to everyone here. I've lurked and posted a few times about stuff I feel I can be helpful with. To be honest though, most of the stuff I learned about my new ride, I garnered from hours of pouring through the wealth of information on this forum. Truly a godsend, as I've been up against it with my 2000 4runner Limited which I bought it 3 months ago. I only had a limited amount of cash (and time) from a total loss from my previous truck - 2003 Ford Expedition EB. I did like that truck. It was VERY clean and drove nice. But gas mileage ehh. Anyways, the 4runner looked nice, drove nice, but soon thereafter I started finding the problems. ( I also wanted it as clean as my Expedition) :biggrin2:
First, job I took on was the rear axle bearings and seals. Definitely would NOT have been able to do that without the information found on here. That lead to rear brakes and drums. Which lead to a lot more:
*Shake in the front end, broken sway bar link, finally found a sticking caliper (after doing brakes and rotors)
*Radio lights out - replaced the radio
*Many little light bulbs burned out - went with LED's again this site was instrumental in getting all the right stuff
*Leaking valve covers - fixed those and also cleaned IAC, MAF Throttle Body
*Recently did WP/ TB fix - just to be sure
*Some interior pieces missing and worn bought from a forum member - Thanks to Death Cougar!
*Replaced the auto antenna (I like original equipment)
*Caught the pink milkshake before it did any damage ( replaced the radiator, flushed the tranny 3x will probably do it one more time. Replace rad hoses flushed and reflushed the coolant and replaced the green with the red once I knew I had no tranny fluid in my coolant.
*Replaced all other fluids (rear dif, TC, Front Dif Lubed the shafts and joints
*Rear dif has a small hole in it from rust DAMN RUST!! I wish I still lived in Arizona. :dammit:
*Bunch of other stuff, Fuel filter, Running board brackets, A/F Sensor and more but I don't want to write a book!
Anyways I just wanted to thank everyone here who contributes because it really helps out a 4runner newb, as I am. I will try to contribute too as I have a solid mechanical aptitude, electrical skills, etc. I also used to work for Snap On Equipment a while back, which afforded me the opportunity to learn a lot about all types of automotive diagnostic equipment so any questions about alignment, tire balancing, A/C diagnostic, I'll help if I can. Thanks Again!!!
