New member, new to me 4Runner

Ive been wanting one of these for a while and needing a new daily driver made a prime opportunity to get one.

'02 Limited Golden Pearl 2wd. The truck is ultra clean and had relatively low mileage at 110k. Living it FL, I don't really need the 4WD, but would have taken one if I could have found it.

Im not sure I love the wheels but change can come in time if that's what I decide. Definitely will switch the tires so that the white letters are on the inside.

All of the floor mats are in like new condition since the rubber floor mats have been in the car since new.

Im pretty proud of it.

I do have a couple of questions.

1. The driver's seat doesn't raise or lower nor does the lumbar work. The seat itself moves forward and backward no problem and the back of the seat tilts fine as well. Do you think its a switch or seat motor issue? Right now I feel like Im about to slide off the front of the seat.

2. Are the aftermarket sport hoods comparable to OEM when it comes to fit quality? I want to add the hood scoop to round out the look.

I drove it 600 miles after purchase yesterday so its covered in bugs. One iphone pic at the dealership and a couple from the dealer.

Nice looking ride. Big fan of the all white look. Looks to be in really good shape. I would read through the stickies at the top.... a lot of really good information in there. To answer your questions:

I am guessing it is the motor. I've never encountered this issue personally but motors die in age. Very similar to power windows.

Also no personal expereince but I've heard a lot of people go with Certi Fit hoods. Heard they work pretty well and run about $90.00. The expensive part is the "guts" or parts that go in the actual scoop.

Welcome! For the seats, you may want to try and take a look under the seat to see if any of the wires are unplugged. Just 4 bolts, disconnect main wire, and remove the seat. The wires have various connection points.

Thanks for the tip, I had thought about that. Staying in a hotel but will check as soon as I can get to my tools.

My question was to see if it was a common issue without doing tons of work when the answer could be easily had. :cheers:

there are a few posts regarding the hood. a lot of people do it in fact. some paint, some dip, some rhino line. but like previously stated the insert actually costs more than the hood itself. as far as how it fits, i dont have one on my truck, but they do line up well from the ones I've seen.

Someone posted a link to a site called car-parts.com. I went there and it looks like there are several salvage yards with in 2 hrs of me that will have an OEM hood with all the scoop goodies for 2-300.

going to give them a call tomorrow and get the scoop on getting the scoop. :becky:

My lumbar doesn't work... It's the motor. That said, my seat does raise and lower with no issues, make me think the systems are not really connected.

Perhaps remove the switch and see if you can jump the terminal to the "up and down" with a wire to a power source. See what happens.
