New MT tire from Cooper (STT PRO)

I only have ~11,500 miles on my Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX tires (still loving them), so it'll be a while before I'm looking at some new shoes, but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with these new MTs from Cooper?

They look pretty promising. If only they'd come out a year ago, I'd have them on now! I'll just have to do a few burnouts a day to wear these bad boys down. It seems like the MT/AT world of tires is blending even more so - I'm happy to see these modern treads coming out. These will definitely be better in the mud than the S/T MAXX offering, but look like they'll still be well suited for chewing up highway miles as well... looking forward to some real world reviews from you all, since it'll be a while for me....

Looks like a bit more aggressive version of the duratrac. Maybe half way from a durtrac to a Rocker. My biggest issue with coopers has always been weak sidewalls so I was surprised to read the review of the reputation for tough sidewalls. It's been 10 years since I've owned a set, so things may have changed a lot in that time. These look like a great compromise for mixed use.

The size of the lugs and the spacing is approximate to a KM2. The addition of factory siping might make it a little more road friendly.

I've got the S/T MAXX and love them. Having had a set of KM2's I would not want to go back to that aggressive of tire. The noise drove me crazy and the lousy street performance put them over the top. I do more off road driving than the average bear, but we all should be honest with ourselves when it comes to how much time we spend on the street rather than the dirt, unless you live on a farm or ranch or at the end of a 20 mile dirt road.

The S/T MAXX has been a great compromise tire - good street manners and strong off road performance. Mud has not been an issue at all. This new tire appears to be a great off road offering from Cooper and I emphasize off road. Maybe I'm just getting old and less tolerant. Cooper makes a great line of AT/MT tires that will compare favorably to anything else on the market and generally at a better price.

Which will the best in 2018, Max or STT Pro?

I just put some STT Pros on my truck this week. Coming from KO2's there are some trade offs. I think so far its a great MT tire, they do have some noise to them but it's not terrible. They look great but you can tell your riding on an MT tire for sure.

STT Pros

i have a set on my 4runner that have about 4000 miles on them and they are much better on road than previous mud tires i have used(BFG KM, KM2). they have suprisingly good traction even on wet roads and have been great in mud.
