New Muffler Suggestions

Our old muffler on the 4Runner has gotten a minor puncture and so I've decided to go ahead and get a new muffler. But I am not sure on which one to choose.

I'd like something with a deep tone, maybe rumble, that is noticeable. I do not do a lot of highway driving.

I want to keep the stock pipes, full stainless exhaust.

I just had a Magnaflow 11256 18" muffler installed on mine. This isn't my runner, but I have the same set exact set up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naqY_0Il0go&list=LLg39Y2aX9V_WEHEreYsKrdQ&index=4
There are also many threads on this topic already so I would suggest doing a search on here, as well as looking for videos on youtube. Just keep in mind that a v6 is going to sound like a v6 pretty much no matter what you do with it.

I run the magnaflow 18" as well. It sounds good, it doesn't drone, and it makes you feel like your'e actually driving something. A borla muffler sounds good on runners too. They're a little louder but the tone is about the same.

I love the sound of my Flowmaster 40 Series. It's not too loud and I don't get any annoying resonance. It is just installed in place of the stock muffler with the stock tailpipe going out the back. I think these mufflers sound great on the 5vz-fe. I had one on my T100 too.

The definition of loud is so subjective. I have an 18" straight through JBA muffler(similar to the Magnaflow) that came with the system and while the tone is good, I think it is loud as hell for my tastes. I cannot even imagine how loud a Flowmaster 40 will be. Flowmaster are also not straight through but baffled. I'm pretty sure they are not stainless steel as well. You can get a JBA exhaust from Advance Auto with coupon codes for $270ish. It sounds like it is what you are looking for with mandrel bent stainless steel pipes and a very noticeable sound.

Best advice I can give you if you have not already realized is that you shouldn't aim to try to "make it sound like a V8" like a few geniuses try to do. It will never sound like a V8. Aim for a good sounding V6 and you won't be as disappointed if you don't like it.

Loving my magnaflow 22 inch muffler, i just got the same length as the stock muffler . Sounds great and not too loud but loud enough to sound like a rig should.
