I had a 2004 xterra that was great at first, but that thing just fell apart all in a year's time frame, I got rid of it.
At about 82k miles, things just started occurring. The interior had cosmetic problem with the headliner falling in and the steering wheel material rotting away. The AC blew weaker but not enough for me to put money into it. The engine started having a tick, but went away after an oil change, but came back again. This tick continued up until I got rid of it.
The suspension developed some weird wobble to it, it got so bad that I would not drive it in the rain on the highway. An inspection with an oil change did not show anything that was noticeable.
These things could have been fixed of course, but I was getting rid of it so I did not want to put money into the thing.
The xterra did do great off road, great turning radius and good balance, plus it was small, but a real gas hog considering its size and power (or lack of would be more accurate).
