Thats why I got it...would make a great trail rig & keep it out of the junk yard. If it were a Jeep, it would be scrap metal.

I have a buddy of mine in Va who wants me to part it out and triple my money. Take the profit and SAS my '87.

I'm thinking this will be a better trail rig than the '87. I CARE too much about the '87 and I am afraid to roll it, hit a tree or rock, etc...when I wheel.
With this rolled truck, I won't care what happens. I know it has already had the crap beat out of it and it still goes

Lots of parusing of the Craigslist...over quite a bit of time...
Every once in a while, a great deal comes along. Ya gotta snap it up or some other joker will beat you to it.

A friend of mine in Va found an 86? Trooper on C list about a month ago.

The guy was seriously old, going blind, lost his license, wanted it out of his driveway.
Original owner, low-ish miles, 5 speed, 4X4. Nothing wrong with it.
Ad said " does not run on gas". So buddy figured had fuel delivery problem. Called him up and he said no, it's a diesel.
$500.
He could not drive to the guys house fast enough.

I did a nationwide C list search, and only found a few.
Min. $3,500 for a diesel trooper.

I got a look at the bugger'd up IFS yesterday...

I compared them to the '97, and it looks like I only need the lower A arm, that verticle something or other steering thingy and CV's...maybe some other knick Knacks...

Got a "new" used, like new tire for the rear from another wheeler friend.
Was his spare and he never used it. He has bigger tires now and does not need it
I may even have time this weekend to get it mounted :banana:

Parting instead....

Well, It looks like I will be parting this out instead of transforming it.

I got a good deal on a 99 Highlander. My mechanic is checking it out today, so we'll see.....

Some of the parts are already spoken for ( but no $ has changed hands yet )
I still have the initial inquiries...and as things progress...I'll let y'all know what is still available.

I want to say THANK YOU to those of you who have offered up some parts to put this back on the trail. Thankfully, nothing has been sent as of yet, so go ahead and hang on to them. I am sure there will be someone here looking for parts!

I'll post up pics of the "new" ride when / if I get the truck.

The 99 sounded like a good deal, would be hard to pass up on. Let me know when you part the 96 out I have a couple items I would be interested in.
