I was just reading the new Prado thread and saw a few other sites that were covering it and I just cant help but think that it would be fairly easy and would make the most sense for toyota to put this highly efficient, 171hp, 302ft-lbs tq motor in. I mean, would they really put a small gas engine in a body on frame suv? I'm sorry if someone else already suggested that this was probably the most logical choice for the new 4runner's 4-banger but it seems like everyone on the net is speculating that the 4 cyl would be the 2.7L taken from the highlander. I would find it hard to believe that the highlander 4cyl would really improve fuel economy that much since it would have to work so much harder. The Prado diesel is rated at over 30mpg COMBINED. That would equal or beat most midsized 4 cyl gas cars.
Does anyone have any concrete evidence that toyota will NOT use the 3.0L Diesel or is everyone just assuming that toyota wont give us a diesel because they havent before?
It sure would be great if they decided to now.
