New project

Do you have write up for constant power? Constant power for stock outlet or after market. I plan to install an extra constant power outlet but don't know where to tap the power to.

I haven't connected extra outlets yet. I may or may not do that. For now I just did a quick wiring modification to a relay under the front fuse panel. It allowed both the front and rear 12v outlets have constant power.

If/when I do decide to put a few extra outlets in back, they will run full time as well.

Ran 10 gage wire to two new outlets for constant power:

Does that fridge run off of the 12v battery? If so, doesn't it run the batt down when you turn the car off?

I wired the stock outlet in the rear to provide constant power when the vehicle was turned off. Yes, it will drain the battery, but not to the point that it won't start. The fridge has a battery monitoring system that shuts it off when your battery gets to a certain voltage. You can set the fridge to Hi Med or Lo for how much you want it to drain the battery.

Now it doesn't matter since I have the dual battery wired to the two new outlets in back. After I start driving and the main battery reaches it's full charge, the solenoid switches the power to the 2nd battery so it charges. Yellow Tops are a deep cycle battery so it can sustain a long "trickle" of power without dying. So far the fridge has been running non stop since I got it, and it has only shut itself off on a couple occasions; all of which were when it was running off of the stock battery. Since I got the dual battery there have been no issues. I only drive a few miles a day (school and work are both within 5-10 minutes from home) and that's enough to sustain it's charge.

It's almost comical how much bigger they are than the PIAA's:

Congratulations On A Great Looking Rig

Wow, that is one serious list of mods you've got going there. You're obviously well informed bout installing things right, and based on the perfect pictures in this thread you sure know photography.

Question: I was fascinated with the posts about removing the metal cable from your new Warn winch, and replacing it with synthetic material. It's been some years since I've been using winches (picking up a never been titled 2008 4X4 Runner this coming Saturday, and will be getting back in the game). Can you expand on why you did that?

Lastly I'd like to respectfually disagree with you on one thing. You said you weren't posting much becuase you thought the majority of people here are looking at the bling thing, rather than mods such as yours. Actually I think it's just the opposite. The majority are into using 4Runners for their intended daily driver / off roader purpose. You only need to look at the huge number of responses in this thread for proof.

Compared to the other forum many of us frequent, Toyota120.com, people on this forum (at least those who drive 4th gens) tend to go more towards looks than off road functionality. There clearly are exceptions though.

The synthetic line is stronger and much safer. It doesn't store energy like the steel cable does so if your line snaps while winching, you don't have to worry about the cable snapping back into your windshield or hitting anyone in the area. My girlfriend is co-pilot on all of my off-road trips so I take every precaution I can to make things as safe as possible.

He summed it up well. This is all I meant, no harm or disrespect intended.

The pics aren't great because my driveway has a weird slope to it but you get a general idea. Nothing needed to be modified to make it work, everything fits well; including the Shrockworks skid plate.

I am however going to get the sliders welded higher, but that was going to happen regardless of the BL because they sat a little low since day one.

Very nice set up. I have a question about the BL. Did you have to do the Steering shaft extention and did you have to trim the radiator fan shroud or plastic? If you did have to trim can you post up a couple of pic's of the process or out come? Do you think the 1 inch is enough room for your 285's or have you had a chance to flex it out yet? Thanks allot.

I shot you a PM, and no there wasn't any trimming. The BL comes with relocation brackets for the radiator and the top plastic trim still fits except for the back 4 clips.

You don't need a BL to fit 285's, but since I do a lot of faster runs I wanted to give them more room for up-travel without rubbing the fender liner. I may go with 305's for my next set but I need to figure out a solution for my spare. I have no room in the back (wouldn't want it there anyways because it would be a bad scene if you had a muddy spare) and rear bumpers can be a pain to get in the back if you don't have sufficient room behind the vehicle for the swing arm.
