New Respect for the Hybrid

Hell....I am someone fairly high up in a Toyota store...I have no problem chiming in here.

We DO NOT sell a paint protectant or Undercoating.

First off, the paint protectant and fabric sealant they sell is put on by a minimum wage lot boy....the paint protectant being a wax you can buy at the local NAPA.

And undercoating.....Toyota puts undercoating on all cars from the factory. In the owners manual it actually suggests against it for that reason. With an extra layer of undercoating...more than likely you are going to have it flake off quickly after it is put on.

If you haven't done it already.....get your money back. These dealerships give us all a bad name....when we are trying to do it right.

Maybe its a Southeast Toyota dealership thing. A coworker of mine bought his Tacoma at another dealership in the area and had the same treatment done by the same people. Have you heard or dealt with a company called ECP, or Auto Armor? These are the folks who did the treatments and who are covering the warranty.

Before you do anymore stuff from the dealer, you need to ask this forum. I know that it's a done deal already, but what the dealer just did amounts to them robbing you of your money. The stuff does not do much of anything...sorry.

I am second to that.

Speaking of that, I had an ex-girlfriend that her family loved Toyota hybrids. Her dad and brother both had Prius's (Priui? lol), and her mom had a Highlander Hybrid. I rode with her in the Highlander and I must say that while it is a little odd with the engine "shut off" and what not, it was actually pretty quick. Made me wonder why she had two highly modified Sti's, one for track and one for the street. It's almost like she was trying to cancel out her family's earth saving ways haha!

Damn I miss that girl.

Since we are talking about hybrids here, a person I work with has a husband with a Prius. Not one problem with it.
He does scheduled maintenance and that is it. I get a kick out of posts on other auto forums expressing concern about the battery life.
This Prius has close to 200K miles on it and the original batteries are still going strong.
