this is my friend [MENTION=61775]seanmullin[/MENTION] 's 05 on 285/70 bfg at's. we got 18 inches of snow in one night, and spent the next day driving on unplowed streets, getting stuck a total of 0 times. it was like the snow wasnt even there. first hand experience

I think pricing of a tire has alot to do with perception on how they perform. many people like coopers for the money you cant complain. with these bfg ko's that cost probably double what a compareable cooper costs, they should be awesome and drive themselves up the mountain! unfortunatly they dont, yet. price aside, i would choose BFG's over crappy coopers all day everyday, just because of what i see with tires on a daily basis.

Not real sure why u mentioned me? BFG at's are to of my list as well! I like them because they are 400 year old design! Classic and work, it is proven!

As far as the A holes, lol your right we are all entitled to them, however that doesn't mean we all want to see them! In other words, no need to say every wort tha comes to mind! All was directed at well they know who!

Seems like this thread has been resurrected, so maybe a good time to give some more feedback on the tires.

I was actually a little apprehensive as to how they would handle the snow and ice up here in Canada, but after going through the last half of last winter i can tell you that I was very impressed. One area you really get in trouble here is when you have a lot of sloppy snow between lanes on the highway, and you are trying to change lanes to pass a truck that is spraying rocks and sleet at you. These tires just bust right through the slop like nothing. With my previous Revo2's or the stock tires the truck would just be all over the place and it made passing scary.

Our family also has a small trailer and I can tell you these tires have vastly improved ride stability while pulling. Probably not a surprise considering LT vs. P, but I am really appreciating the difference.

The wear rate has been very good. To me the tires still look brand new after 8 months. There is just so much damn tread on these things!

I have not spent any time mud bogging so can't give a review on that, but for light 4x4 and logging / gravel road travel they have been working great so far.

i have a front hitch too and when stuff is on there it does get difficult to see. i can only imagine how bad it would be with the bikes.

Because i agree with what you say in this thread, i saw the other posts about tint too, refrained from posting to not get into the debate.

to the OP, thanks for chiming in and giving us feedback after 8 months of use.

When i first saw a new set of BGF AT KOs, a few years ago, i was amazed at how deep the stock tread is 15-17/32. Compared to many many other tires out there on the market start at 9-10/32 I have customers with this BFG have dry rotted tires before they get worn out @ 60k! Thats what really makes this tire a great performer, tread life, all weather performance all equal value.

I find it funny, people talk about them dry rotting and that it's a problem! Well from what I have seen the dry rotting ones are many many many years old! Thigs are always going to rot! They last long enough to rot! I'm torn between KO's and open country AT 2's

Do what I did, scour Craigslist for a set. I scored my ko's for $240 for the set of four. I checked the build date on the tires and they 2 years old. Tread is at 12/32, no uneven tread wear! They were 80 miles away but four tires for the price of one? Worth the 3 hour round trip to save over $700. Spent a total of $275 gas and cost of tires. I use a site called www.searchtempest.com awesome for getting all Craigslist at ONE click!

Try and find both sets used lol. Pm me for some search criteria tips if you need it.

To make it manageable I have to make sure both sets of handlebars are on the driver's side, and then remove the seats. It is doable for daytime driving, but at night the headlights reflect off of the bikes and it is pretty sketchy.

I was trying to avoid (i) building a receiver hitch off the back of the trailer which is a big job, (ii) putting the bikes in the trailer which is a total hassle for short stops, and (iii) purchasing new rooftop racks and installing the bikes on the roof of the 4runner, which means I would have to remove my ski racks...not a deal killer but in my opinion a hassle none the less.

One advantage to having the bikes on top of the 4runner or in the trailer is that you reduce your overall length, which saves you about $25 each time you ride on a BC Ferry trip ($6/foot). It takes us 3 ferry trips each way to get to our summer place in the Gulf Islands.

Well that was long-winded, but I guess i am still searching for that perfect solution.

Just replaced my 265/65/18 Bridgestone Revo2's with the 265/65/18 BF Goodrich All Terrains. Holy crap these BFG's are in a totally different league. Heavier, meatier, larger, massive tread depth. These tires mean business.

I'm not saying the BFG's are "better", just totally different. Less high-way, more my-way.

.25" is not going to make much of a difference. Get the better quality Spidertrax, definitely don't use ebay ones that aren't hubcentric if you value your life.

My 4th gen developed a KDSS leak in 2018 so I traded it in right away (for a F250).
